We all arrived at the crossing. Thousands of people flooded the crosswalks. All social and fashion groups were on display here. The mixing pot of Shibuya.
How the hell are we supposed to do a challenge here? There's too many people.
"I think we're kinda early, Neku" Joshua commented.
"Yeah, it's only 7:59." Shiki added.
"Really?" I asked, genuinely surprised.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. I flipped it open to double check the time. True enough, the time on the screen read '7:59 PM'. But right before my eyes, the white numbers on the screen quickly faded to '8:00PM'. I looked up to see the crossing astonishingly empty. All the people who were here just a second ago, quickly became nothing but air. Whoa, what the hell?
"What the hell!?" Beat yelled. "Where the hell did everyone go?"
"I think this is whoever runs this game's way of giving us our own space for the challenge." Rhyme guessed.
"Yeah, but, I don't get it. What's the challenge?"
"Perhaps the large flat screen will provide us a clue." Akane commented.
We all looked at the flat screens. The large screens froze on an image of two girls.
The one on the left was young looking. She had high curly pigtails with one side of her hair bright pink and the other blue. She was wearing a showy outfit with frills and ruffles. The other girl looked older than the other girl. Her hair color was split down the middle like the other girl but instead of bright colors and high pigtails, She had a long silky deep purple and a dark aquamarine. She was wearing a tight-fitting black dress. Shiki then gasped.
"I know who they are!" She exclaimed excitedly. "The one on the right is Yoko Aoki, Tokyo's newest and most popular model!"
"What about the one on the right?" I asked.
"That's Miki Akemi. She's a singer in Tokyo too. She's become really popular lately. I read about them in Prince's blog. I think she did a show here recently."
"Yo, what's with their hair? Is it dyed or is it like a wig?" Beat perplexed.
"No, It's naturally like that."
"Whaaaaaaaaat!? You pullin my leg right, Shiki?"
"Nope, it's a genetic mutation."
"Genetic mutation?" I added
"Yeah, I think it was called Prodigiosus. The mutation affects a person's natural hair and or eye color. Only less than one percent of the population of the world has it."
I noticed V crossed his arms and turned his head away from the conversation. That's when the screen suddenly changed to static. The speakers let out a reverb before a shrill, nails-on-a-chalkboard like voice came on.
"Sorry for the delay everyone, opening up this pocket reality and transporting 7 people there is kinda difficult and takes a lot of time. But without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the challenge!"
Then, confetti then erupted from the sides of the building and rained down as an upbeat show tune played.
"Now, let me introduce you to our game composer; Bates!"
With that, a spotlight shined down from the cloudy sky. At the bottom was him, Bates. His black coat was waving in the wind.
"Thank you, Dr. Jean, You're too kind! Anyway, Let's skip salutations and get right into the rundown! Here's how challenges work; think of them like boss fights. At the end of each week, you will have a challenge like this one. For this challenge, we're having a dudes only night! No icky girls allowed! No girls are allowed to participate in this challenge!"
