"Neku...? Neku... Wake up, sleepy head..."

I fluttered my eyes open to see Josh gently shaking my shoulder.

"Morning sunshine..." He said softly, just above a whisper with a smile with the same softness.

I hid my face back in the pillows "What time is it...?" I groaned out

"It's 7-ish."

"Is V up?

"Unfortunately not..."

"Damn..."

"I made coffee if you want anything, do you want breakfast?"

"I'm not hungry right now." I said as I sat up and stretched.

"Some coffee would be nice, though..."

"Alright, I'll go get you some." Josh got up and walked over to the kitchen. He's wearing his usual outfit. Does he sleep in that?

"Do you take your coffee with cream or sugar?" He asked

"Nah, I take it black."

"Really?" He seemed genuinely interested.

"Yeah."

He walked over with two mugs.

"Here." He handed me a mug full of dark coffee.

"Thanks" I replied, taking it in my hands.

"Careful, It's hot."

I took a sip, Tasting the bitter, hot coffee.

"How'd you sleep?" He asked

"Alright, I guess."

"Should we go check on V?"

"I-"

I was interrupted by the sound of a jiggling doorknob and soft footsteps. Speak of the devil. She stumbled out of the hallway, looking around cautiously. She held onto the front of the long white dress shirt that covered most of her, leaving her legs bare except for the bandages covering her knees. The sleeves draped over her hands as the neckline slid off her shoulder. She turned around to see us looking up at her. I could now see her face in its fullness. The most alarming feature about her was her eyes. One on the right a deep blue and the other a bright blood red. They widened in shock at the sight of us as a gasp escaped her pale pink lips. Before we could say anything, she quickly ran down the hallway and slammed a door shut.

"Wait, V!" I called after her.

I placed the mug on the coffee table and pulled the blankets away to get up. I ran up the stairs and went down the hallway she had. There was only one door. I softly knocked on it.

"V? You in there?"

No response. I pressed my ear to the door, hearing only heavy breathing.

"V, can we talk?"

No response.

"V, please, I'm not mad at you. I just want to talk."

No response, though the breathing became quieter.

"V, I'm not mad about last night. I understand you must be feeling really scared and confused. But let me talk to you. I just want to talk."

A few seconds of silence passed, I opened my mouth to keep begging her to come out.

"Okay..." A soft voice responded from the other side of the door.

"Do you want me to get Joshua to leave?"
