annie's pov
-
"laur! i need you to help upfront." i say giving a customer their drink. lauren comes out of the kitchen with frosting on her cheek. kenzie giggles and wipes it off, waving it in front of lauren's face. lauren blushes."you can't blame me! i was frosting cupcakes." we all laugh. lauren takes my spot. i walk in the kitchen and hang up my apron. i walk pass johnny and go up to the bedrooms.
hayden's bedroom was shut. i'm talking johnny's advice and talking to hayden. i take a breather before knocking on his door.
soon after, a shirtless hayden opens the door. he was wearing grey sweats. "oh- uh hey annie. let me put on a shirt real quick." hayden shuts the door on me and then re opens it with a white plain shirt.
you liked him better the other way annie
ugh, shut up brain!
"can we talk?" i ask. he nods his head and lets me in. i sit on the edge of his bed. "look, i'm sorry for how i reacted. i shouldn't have been so harsh. i'm sorry that my mom killed your dad; but, you still tried to kill me. even if it wasn't your will, why? it wasn't my fault that my mom was like that." i said.
hayden looked down so i couldn't read his eyes. "annie... i wasn't going to kill you. i wasn't even going to lay a finger on you! the men-" he looked up so his eyes met mine. they locked.
"the men were going to kill you. and i didn't know that until after i brought you there. trust me, if i knew they were going to kill you i wouldn't have brought you there. they told me that they were going to interrogate you and ask you questions about your mom. see if we could find out anything." hayden had a tear rolling down his cheek.
i scooted closer to him and placed my hand on his cheek. i wiped it away with my thumb. "i promise you hayden, we will find my mom together."
