annie's pov
-
i can't believe hayden actually agreed to lunch! i don't why i'm getting all excited. i squeal to myself and rush in kenzie's room. "kenzie i-" before i could finish my sentence, she was making out with johnny on the bed. ew. i made a disgusted face and silently walked out.
i walk down to the cafe and unexpectedly see jerry. "oh, hi jerry!" i smiled. "annie dear! how are you?" he asked smiling. "fine! how are you?" i asked. "doing great sweetheart."
"i asked hayden if he wanted to go out for lunch with me and he agreed!" i smiled. "really? well, that's the first. have fun on your date." jerry winked.
my cheeks burned. "oh, um... it's not a date. just a friendly lunch." i said looking down. jerry laughed and walked towards the glass doors. "well whatever it is, have fun!" he walked out.
i turned back around; only to see johnny with a confused face. his face was covered in red lipstick. "date?" he smirked. "no, just a thank you lunch." i said.
"and also, red isn't your color." i smiled walking past him. i walked back upstairs and into kenzie's room. she was doing her makeup.
"kenz, hey." i said. "hi anns. what's up?" she said- not taking her eyes off the vanity mirror. she was curling her eyelashes. "i wanted to ask you about something. well, a few things actually." i said fiddling with the ends of my romper.
"go ahead." "well, i wanted to ask about your silver heart locket. what's in it? you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." i said chocking on my words.
kenzie stoped her makeup and turned around in her chair to face me. she took off her locket and tossed it to me. i caught it and looked at it.
"open it." she smiled. i hesitantly opened it. it was a picture of her and who i'm assuming are her parents. i closed the locket back up and tossed it back.
i didn't dare to ask questions.
"um, anyways. i'm going out with hayden for lunch. and no, not as a date. i need your help." kenzie just looked at me as if she saw a ghost. "hayden? as in hayden summerall is going out, for lunch, with you?" kenzie's jaw dropped.
"um... yeah. i know it's surprising." i said trying to hide a grin. "omg that's amazing!" kenzie said jumping out of her chair. "and, what do you need my help for?" kenzie said on the edge of her seat.
"um... well, i don't know how to act around him. he barely goes out." i sighed. "and you think i know? he's so secretive it's impossible." kenzie said.
i sighed. she's right. "well, i'll try my best. thanks kenz!" i rushed out of her room and downstairs.
i saw hayden; he was wearing black jeans and a white shirt. he had a jacket over that and had his hair straight.
"ready?" i asked. he nodded as we walked out.
...
hayden and i were walking around the busy streets of new york. since i'm new here, i don't really know any good places to eat lunch. "i heard there's a place called diamonds square. wanna eat there?" i asked hayden.
"sure. how long of a walk?" he asked. i searched it up on my phone. "five minutes." we walked in a awkward silence to the restaurant. this should be interesting.
...
we were sitting at a table for two- across from each other. "tell me about yourself." hayden said keeping his eyes on his menu. hayden wants to know about me?!
"oh, well my full name is julianna grace leblanc. i lived in california for most of my life, i had an older brother named caleb but he sadly passed. and i love dogs." i smiled to myself.
"how about your parents?" he asked putting down his menu. now giving me his full attention. "my dad passed as you know... and i never really knew my mom. my dad always would tell me stories of her, but i never met her." i sighed.
"if you don't mind me asking- what did he say about your mom?" hayden asked. wow, he's really interested about my mom. "he said she was like me almost. but i had more of a heart in me. my dad was bittersweet about her." i sighed.
hayden nodded. and that's when the waiter came.

hayden's pov

great. she has no idea who her mom is. ughh this is getting really annoying. good thing i'm meeting up with my dads colleagues tomorrow.
should i invite annie?
maybe then she'll talk. tell me everything she knows. "um annie.." i started off. she fixed her gaze onto mine. her beautiful eyes made me loose focus. i got lost.
"yes hayden?" she giggled snapping me out of my trance. "oh, um... would you like to come to a meeting with me tomorrow? well, it's not really a meeting but more like a hangout." i stumbled. her smile grew 10x bigger. "of course." she smiled.
i feel guilty about what i'm doing.
but her mother killed my father.
he seeks revenge.
