16 • stargazing

annie's pov

"i had fun." owen smiled. we were both standing outside of the coffee shop. "really?" i laughed. he nodded and let out a small chuckle.

"i mean who thought- working could be so fun when your boss is cute." he winked. i blushed and looked at my feet. was he flirting with me?!

"well, i ought to be off. goodnight annie." he said. we gave eachother a hug. "you too." i grinned. after he left, i walked back in to get ready for stargazing with hayden.

i threw on tight leggings and a maroon knitted sweater. i tried my hair up in a high ponytail and walked back downstairs. i waited for hayden to come, till i heard footsteps.

i look up and see hayden wearing a hoodie and joggers. "ready?" he grinned a bit. "omg. did i just see hayden summerall smile?" i joked. he laughed walked towards me. "wow! a bonus! i even get a laugh." i said. hayden came up to me and tried tickling me but i ran out the door.

hayden followed. he caught up to me and picked me up from behind. i was laughing and so was he. he spun me around. eventually, he put me down. i was still laughing and i wrapped my arms around his neck. his were around my waist.

once we realized what position we were in, we just looked into each other's eyes. getting lost in them.

hayden let go and so did i. instead, we took my hand and intertwined it with his. my cheeks turned bright pink as we walked hand in hand on the busy streets of new york.

"hayden where are we going? central park?" i asked. we've been walking for quite a long time. "somewhere even better." he said.

he took me into a building. we climbed up the stairs until we reached the rooftop. there were blankets and pillows already there. i let go of hayden's hand and rushed towards the set up.

i jump on the pillows and lay down. hayden soon comes and joins me. he lays down right next to me. we both look up at the stars in peace.

"do you know your star?" hayden blurted out in the wind howling silence. "no." i said. "well, i can tell that ones yours." hayden said pointing to a bright star.

"how?" i asked turning my head to face his. he does the same. "because it's beautiful and bright. outshines them all... just like you." he smiled. i smiled back. i looked back up at the stars.

"my dad and brother are somewhere up in those stars." i said. "yeah, so is my dad." hayden said. after a moment of silence, hayden laced our fingers together.

he sat up. "come on, i wanna show you something." he said. i sat up too and followed him to a telescope i didn't see before. "do you know what constellations are?" hayden asked me- letting go of our fingers and looking into the telescope.

"um, i know a few. are you big on astronomy?" i asked. "eh." he said which caused me to laugh. "here, try and spot the litter dipper." he said. i bent down and looked around.

then i saw it! "wow that's cool!" i said. i pulled back. we both went to go sit on the blankets and pillows again. "the stars are so beautiful." i sighed in amusement.

"not as beautiful as you." hayden said.

i looked at hayden and smiled. he smiled back and leaned in. so did i. he placed his hand on the side of my cheek and pressed his lips onto mine.

he tasted so good.

we pulled back after a few seconds. we both smiled and rested our foreheads against each other's. "so summerall, just a friend?" i whispered. "shut up." he said before kissing me again.
