it was a new day. new day meaning fresh start... right? i mean, after everything that happened yesterday i need a fresh start. today's owen's first day at work. i'll just have to show him the ropes.
i get ready for the day and walk out. as i walk pass hayden's bedroom, i have the sudden urge to just knock on his door.
and that's exactly what i did.
in a matter of seconds, he opened the door. "annie? oh hey what's up?" he said rubbing his eyes. his hair was perfectly curly. i wanted to touch it, but that would just be weird.
"good morning to you too. i just- never mind. get down quick." i said turning around. "annie wait." hayden stopped me. i turned around again to face him.
"yes hayden?" i ask. he looked more awake now.
"would you... maybe want to go stargazing with me tonight?"
hayden summerall, asking me to go out with him tonight? "um, as in a hangout or-" "yep. a friendly hangout." he grinned. something about his smile was off, but i just decided to go with it.
"sure! see you tonight." i smiled walking away. even though it was a friendly hangout; i wish it was a date.
...
"annie! owen's here!" lauren shouted. i tried my apron quickly and rushed out the doors. owen was standing by the door. "owen! hey." i smiled walking over to him.
"oh, hi annie!" he smiled walking towards me. i just forgot i was saying and looked in his eyes. "so, you're showing me around?" he asked.
"oh, yep! wait, no i actually can't. i have to work up front. i'll ask hayden." i said. owen followed me into the kitchen where hayden is usually baking; but today, he wasn't.
"that's strange. he's usually here. one second owen i'm going to check upstairs." i said. he nodded and gave me a slight smile. i walked upstairs in the hopes of finding hayden.
as i reached the top, someone bumped my shoulder causing me to slip and almost fall backwards down the stairs. luckily, that person caught me. i look up and see hayden's arms wrapped around me- comforting me like a blanket.
he quickly pulled me up. "oh god, i'm so sorry annie. i-" "it's fine." i cut him off. "owens here for his first day of work. i need you to show him around."
hayden gave me a are you kidding me right now look. "you haven't even met him! you judge people way to fast." i said crossing my arms. i knew i left him speechless because he can't say anything against the truth.
"ugh fine!" he said walking past me. i grin to myself and walk down.
...
as i finished up for today, i was helping johnny and owen clean up the tables. owen and i were rubbing down the same table with rags. suddenly, owens hand was on mine.
i look up at him. the both of us blush. "sorry." he mumbled, removing his hand from mine. "ahem." johnny coughed purposely. i gave him a look and he just cheekily smiled.
this is going to be a long night.
