annie's pov
-
i woke up, remembering how yesterday hayden confessed his love to me. but, i'm not in my room. i look to my side and see a sleeping hayden. i must've fell asleep here!
no no no. now everyone else is going to think the nasty. oh god. i pull the covers off me and rush to my room. i quickly get ready and rush back to haydens room.
this time, he wasn't in his bed. "hayden?" i softly call out. the bathrooms lights were off. "hayden?" i repeat again. then i feel someone tickle me from behind. i laugh and scream.
i fall onto the bed. hayden was laughing really hard at this point. "hayden summerall!" i laugh looking at him. "i'm sorry! i just had too." he said hovering over me. he rolled over on his bed and pulled me on top of his body.
hayden started randomly to kiss my neck. i wasn't complaining. he moved his hands to my lower back and rubbed.
my phone started ringing out of my back pocket. i got it and answered it. "hello?" i tried my best not to moan into the phone.
lauren- annie! where are you and hayden? owen, johnny, kenzie and i went out for breakfast before the coffee shop opens.
annie- oh, don't worry. hayden and i are here. you guys go have fun.
lauren- um... did y'all have-
annie- NO! don't laur.
lauren- okay geez. well, bye! have fun, but not to much fun.
before i got the chance to respond, she hung up. great. hayden moved his lips from my neck to my ear. "i love you." he whispered.
those three words.
it sent a vibe throughout my body.
but, i didn't say anything back. not even a word. which i think left hayden scared. i just got off of him and sat on the edge of his bed.
...
"hey annie, can you help me with the flour?" owen asked. "sure i'll be there in a sec." i said handing a customer their bagel.
i walked to the back where owen had flour all over him. he looked like a white ghost. it covered him from head to toe. i just started laughing.
"i know, i look like casper." he said. he put his arms out and smirked. "want a hug?" he asked. i stopped laughing and went into defense mode. "no, no." i said backing up.
owen chased me around the counter. i was screaming and laughing at the same time. eventually, he caught up to me and hugged me. i squirmed in his arms.
after we pull away, there was flour all over my apron. "gee thanks owen." i giggle. owen walked closer to me. he places a hand on my cheek and wipes away something.
"there was flour on your cheek." he smiled. my cheeks tinted in heat. "thanks." i murmured. wait. no. annie snap out of it! you can't like hayden and owen at the same time!
"um, excuse me for a second." i said brushing past him. i was walking out of the kitchen when i bumped into john.
"johnny! perfect timing. i need your advice, come on." i said dragging him by the wrist. i pulled him to the staircase. we sat on the first flight of stairs.
"what's up? i kind of have to work up front." he said. "yeah, well i'm the boss and i need your advice." i said.
"sure whats up."
"well, owen and hayden both like me. and both of them are very sweet. i think hayden's a bit mad at me because earlier he said he loved me and i didn't respond. it's my fault that hayden's going to be less open again. i lost his trust and he probably hates me again." i said.
johnny slings his arm around my shoulder. "annie, you're like a baby sister to me. i think you should be with whoever makes you happy." he said. i gave johnny a hug.
"thanks john." i smiled. "anytime. now if you excuse me, i've got a cash register to run." he said getting up. i grin and wave.
come to think of it, i haven't seen hayden. all day. again.
i get up and walk up the rest of the stair case. i jog to his room and knock. "hayden? you're suppose to be downstairs." i laugh through the door.
no response.
"hayden?" i say again. "this isn't funny hay open up." i say. it's been two minutes and he hasn't opened the door. i barge in and the wind immediately hit my face.
the window was open; it's curtains swaying. "hayden?" i say again walking around his lifeless room. his bed wasn't made and it was just not as comfortable here.
i take my cell out and dial his number. it goes straight to voicemail. what the heck? where could he possibly be?
i rush downstairs and run to the front. "guys, hayden's gone."
----
oh no haydens gone!
tomorrow i have to present in history (which i'm having anxiety for) and i have to write a stupid poem.
kk see ya!!
