He watched Sakura as he stood at the end of her bed. He wanted to laugh so hard at how things didn't turn out the way they wanted it to. Why would God ever favor a bunch of criminals?

He moved to the side of the bed and sat next to her. He took off his mask to reveal his scarred face. He knew he regretted a lot of things and one of them was never going back to the leaf village when he was saved.

He knew it sounded selfish of him of wanting to but if he did, he could be able to see her and keep her safe there. He shook his head at the thought. No, it was selfish. Everyone needs a little light in their life and she was it. She was their light.

He moved a piece of hair away from her face and placed his mask on again. He looked at her one last time before fading away into nothing. Seconds later, an explosive could be heard from the entrance of the hideout.
