Becky left the bar with Claire and went home. She kept thinking about what Tom had said tonight. Then she thought about what her mom and Claire had said too. The loneliness before him was almost suffocating. She had never once thought that Tom would be the answer to all of those wishes that she made for companionship over the years.

She stepped into her apartment and realized she didn't want to be alone tonight...she really didn't want to be alone ever again. Maybe the answer had been there all along. She pulled out her phone and texted him, grabbed a few things that she would like to have in the morning, and went out to her truck.

She was just backing out when she saw a thumbs up come through from him. The simple thing made her smile and warmed her heart as she drove to his house. When she pulled up to the garage, she saw the door open and him waiting inside in only his sweatpants. She parked and got out as quickly as possible, jumping into his arms.

His lips were immediately on hers. When they finally parted, he looked into her eyes, "sorry, I hate to assume things, but I was pretty sure that would be ok?" She nodded and smiled. "I have something for you."

She was a little confused, "ok?"

He let her go and held up a battery operated garage door opener and a key. Her breath hitched a little, but she didn't trust herself to speak. He seemed to understand what she was thinking. "Don't think of it like they make it look in the movies. It's not some huge step. I just want you to have complete access whenever you want it Beck."

"Really?" She asked. He nodded. She had come to a couple conclusions and figured it was time to let him in on what she was thinking. She nodded too, "well in that case, I've made a decision. I want to try this between us. However, I also want you alive, so would you be ok with keeping it between us for now?"

His face went from serious to smiling in a matter of seconds and then laughing. "Absolutely, I like being alive too." Then he kissed her with everything he had.

She pulled back, "you can have a key too, you know."

"Ok, but you're welcome here anytime. It would be a little easier since I have a garage for both of our vehicles. And you are welcome to bring anything you want with you."

She nodded and smiled, "let's go inside. I don't think I've ever seen your bedroom." She winked, grabbed her stuff, then pulled him behind her up to the house.

He caught up to her and walked with his arm around her. He chuckled, "you know for being new at this, you're catching on very quickly."

Awhile later, they lay in bed.  Tom had his arms around Becky, and he had never been happier.  She brought something out in him that no one else ever had.  When he was around her, he had this fiery need that could only be put out by her.  He was jealous as hell when he saw any other guy even speak to her.  He felt a little like he had gone off the deep end.  Stranger, though, was the fact that he didn't give a damn.

"I think your bed is better than mine," she said smiling.

He could tell that she was comfortable.  "Only if you're in it."  He kissed her deeply, putting as much feeling into it as possible.

"So..." she took a deep breath, "how does this work?  I've never done any of this before..."

He smiled.  She was even cuter when she was nervous.  "It works however we want it to.  I'm yours whenever you want me or need me, and I hope that it's the same for you.  But I know this is all new, so, just like before, you take whatever time you need.  I'll be as patient as you need me to be."

"You're amazing," she kissed him.

He chuckled, "not really, it's not like I'm not benefiting from this at all."

He was happier than he had been in a very long time, all thanks to the woman lying in his arms.    He was beginning to realize that he had found the woman that he had been waiting for all along, and it didn't scare him one bit.  They drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.

Becky woke up the next few mornings pretty much the same way. Tom would be holding her close and one of them would stir, waking the other. They would slowly make their way out of bed and get dressed and eat a simple breakfast together. He had encouraged her to leave things at his house so it would be easy for her to stay.

If she was being honest with herself, it all felt a little bit too easy. She knew she was falling in love with him. The age difference didn't seem to be an issue, if anything, it seemed to help. Tom assured her at every turn that he was ready for whatever she was. She knew that some of his flexibility and openness was from maturity.

On Friday morning, they were eating breakfast and talking about their plans for the day.

"I think I'm going to be knee deep in paperwork all day," he told her between bites.

"Yuck! Brandon and Alli flew in late last night so I will get to see them today. I've got a couple lessons early this afternoon. Shouldn't be too busy overall though." She got up and pulled her birth control pack out of her purse to take it for the day. Looking at the pills, she realized that she had started her off week on Sunday, but still didn't have her period. She did her best not to look worried in front of Tom and made a mental note to run into town and grab a pregnancy test when she left.

"From what Alli has been posting, it looks like they had fun."

Becky nodded and went back to eating her cereal. She was thinking about driving to Austin to get it so nobody would see her. She would go to Brandon and Alli's and get her alone. She did her best to keep up with Tom so he wouldn't suspect anything.

After they parted ways, she drove around a little and then went to Austin, bought a couple tests, and headed for the ranch.
