Becky had woken up incredibly confused. There were so many different feelings coursing through her. Something heavy was on her stomach, her entire body was stiff, but the stiffest part was her right leg, her throat was extremely dry. She looked around and figured out that this was a hospital, which brought back the memories of the accident. She looked down and saw the cast on her leg and Tom's head sleeping on her stomach.

She smiled and reached out for him. She ran her hands through his hair. Of all the things she might have expected when she woke up, this definitely wasn't one of them. She realized that, if his head was resting there with his hands, there was a good chance that he knew about the baby. She felt his head move a little and knew he was waking up.

Her eyes finally found his and, within seconds, his lips were on hers. Once they parted, he looked at her closely, incredibly worried, "did I hurt you?"

She smiled and shook her head, "no, but can I have some water?"

He nodded, "I think so but I better press the button so they can check you."

She nodded, and he pressed it. She had so many questions for him. How long had she been asleep? The clock said ten, and it was light out so it must be morning. How badly was she hurt? How is the baby? How is Brock? The nurses came in, then the doctor. Tom refused to leave, and she could have sworn she heard a nurse refer to him as her fiancé.

Finally, the doctor explained to her that her leg was broken. The recovery time would be two to three months. They would talk more in the next few days about when she could go home and the healing process in general. She was told that the baby was fine, but they were monitoring it very closely too.

After what seemed like hours, they finally left her alone, but then her family came in. It seemed that everyone knew about the baby, but no one asked any questions. They didn't look like they wanted to kill Tom either, so she had a hard time believing that they knew it was his. She did her best to be patient until they were able to be alone.

About an hour later, a nurse came in and said it was time to let her get some rest. She noticed that Tom didn't make any move to leave, and the nurse just winked at him. It seemed he had already charmed all of the nurses. After everyone cleared out, he looked at her, "Are you ready for a nap?"

She smiled, "right after you tell me what the hell is going on."

He chuckled, "I'm impressed that you managed to wait this long. You smiled, but I can tell you'll kill me if I don't." She just sat there and waited with the same smile on her face. "Ok, Alli called me as soon as they heard about the accident. It seems that she knew about us? I organized a private jet to fly us out here, and she told me on the way that you're pregnant. She also told the guys that it's mine, and she's pregnant too. When we got here, Angela enlightened your parents. I had a bit of a mental breakdown, but, after that, I talked to your parents. Everyone knows everything, basically."

"And nobody's dead? No black eyes? No punches thrown?"

"Nope, just rational talking."

"Wow," She said. She was amazed, but it didn't last long. It quickly changed to nervous and her eyes clouded with tears, "Are we ok?"

He looked shocked at her, "Are you kidding? Of course we're ok!" He took her hands, "it's not like you planned this. These things happen, and we're both adults. Now, I know we have a lot of things to sort out, but right now I think we need to focus on you're recovery. Do you think we can do that?"

She didn't know what to say, so she just nodded. "I think I'm ready for that nap."

He smiled, "good."

As she drifted off to sleep, she felt his hand in hers and smiled. There were plenty of questions that she still wanted answered, but they could wait.

——————————————

Two weeks...that's how long Becky tried to convince Tom to go home. It was also how long she had to stay at the hospital. Normally for a pregnant patient that had broken her leg in two places, they wouldn't let you fly that quickly. Apparently, the exception was if you were flying home on a private jet and could easily be taken to your doctor in Austin.

Brock and Becky had both been moved out of the ICU after three days. Brock had been released a few days after that. Everybody but Tom and her parents had headed home. Henry, Angela, and Chris visited on a regular basis. Her parents stayed at Brock's and came every day. Tom never left the hospital, except when he smuggled in food for them from the cafe next door.

It's not that she didn't want him there...he was actually the only one she did want there. Somehow, he managed to rarely leave her side but not actually smother her. She didn't want to admit it, though, because she felt terrible for keeping him there, away from his office.

Of course, he swore up and down that it wasn't an issue. He told her this was where he needed to be, and he had a friend checking in with his clients to let them know what was going on. Apparently that was one of the perks of being self-employed.

It meant the world to her that he had stayed, but he wouldn't tell her why he stayed. That is, he only said he cared deeply for her. He had explained that her dad told the hospital that they were engaged so he could stay overnight with her. They never actually talked about the baby and their relationship, he just reminded her whenever she brought it up that her focus was the baby and getting better. Apparently everything else could wait...wait...and wait some more.

So the day had come for her to make her jailbreak. Tom was packing her bags, and she was working on her discharge papers. She was ready to go home...to figure out her life. Her parents were flying home with them, they would fly back later. Their truck and camper were being held at Henry and Angela's estate outside of the city. She thought her dad just wanted to check on the school since she couldn't.

"All set?" Tom asked after picking up the last bag.

"Yup." She smiled at him and wondered how she would have gotten through this if he hadn't stayed.

"Then lets go home babe."
