Becky was cleaning up after supper with her family. Of course Sean and Tripp had weaseled their way in once they heard about it too. Thankfully all of the men decided to walk down to the bar for a bit. Her mom was next to her drying dishes.

"So are you gonna call any of those numbers that you got last week?"

"What makes you think I haven't?"

"Well with wedding planning, I don't think you had time..."

"True. I don't think I will."

"Why not?"

"I don't know anything about them."

"Well that's normally why people date, honey."

Becky thought for a minute. She wasn't sure how much to say to her mom. "What if...there's someone...that I...might...kinda...sorta...be interested in already?"

Her mom looked at her surprised, "who?"

"I'm not...sure that I want to say yet."

She smiled, "that's ok sweetie. Have you two gone out?"

"Not really."

"You think he's interested?"

She nodded and smiled, "he is."

"Well then take a chance."

"Just like that?"

"What have you got to lose?"

"I could get my heart broken or the boys could kill him."

She chuckled, "true, they always said they could get away with it, and Tom would be their lawyer."

Becky's breath hitched a little, but if her mom noticed, she didn't say. "I feel like I'm in unknown territory mom."

"Well you are, but don't kid yourself, just because other people may have dated more, that doesn't mean that it's ever not unknown territory. No two relationships are the same. You'll probably have to go through many of them to find the right one, but that doesn't mean it's not worth it."

"Maybe you're right."

Her mom set down the dish towel and hugged her, "oh honey, I know it seems like a big risk but when you find the right guy, and you fall together...it's terrifying and amazing all wrapped up together."

"If you say so."  She smiled at her mom and they finished the dishes together then poured a glass of wine for each.

"Oh honey, I'm glad this wedding is over."

"Really mom?  You weren't even here for most of the madness!"  Becky laughed with her mom.

"You just remember this for when your time comes my dear."

"As long as I've got the man, I don't care about the wedding mom."  It was hard to miss the sadness in her voice, but she had to admit that since this whole thing started with Tom, she was feeling less and less lonely.
