~Phil's POV~

*What Felt Like Hours Later*
*Which, Honestly, It Might've Been*

I woke up in a bed. My eyes searched the room, I was in the nurse's office. Slowly, I sat up only yo have a hand be placed on my shoulder, "Relax Phillip, you're safe." it was a calming voice. I looked over to see nurse May, "You took quite the hit if I must say so myself," she smiled but I could tell she was worried. I had known her since birth, she was my godmother. She and my mom had grown up together and remained to this day the best for friends, "What is your mother going to say?"

I sighed before I realized something, Dan. "Where-Where's Dan?" I said attempting to sit up again, "What h-happened to Dan? Is he okay?!"

"Daniel? The Howell's boy?" I nodded, "We let him go an hour ago, he only had minor injuries compared to yours."

"Where'd he go?" I questioned as she shot me a confused look,

"He went home Phil, Principal Rogers suspended him for starting the fight."

Dan got suspended!? "BUT HE DIDN'T START THE FIGHT! HE WAS PROTECTING ME!" She stepped back in shock of my sudden outburst.

"Phillip, he got suspended for beating Caspar Lee half to death! How can you defend him?" She had a point, sure he beat up Caspar, but he did it to...to save me... She sighed, "You're free to leave Phil, the principal said you could be excused for the rest of the afternoon. So, go home and get some rest yeah?" I nodded before making my way out the door. I needed to talk to Dan. I needed to know why he protected me. Why he saved me. Sure I wasn't planning on confessing my feelings but if we got on the topic I don't think I'd have the guts to deny it. I had just got his friendship back, I wasn't ready to lose it. I wasn't ready to lose him.

*At Dan's House*

Hesitantly, I knocked on the door. I knew Dan must be the only one home because it was midday and his dad did have a job. I think I knocked three times before I remembered the spare key. I knew I shouldn't have remembered it but somehow I did. I went to the corner of the deck and lifted the broken floorboard and grabbed the key. Dan had shown me where it was in case I needed to give something to him and no one was home all those years ago. I opened the door and quickly laced the key back under the boards. The lights were off and it seemed like no one had been here, I walked past the living room where I noticed the floor covered in shattered glass and blood. The walls had holes in them the size of a grown man's fist, there were beer bottles literally everywhere and broken picture frames were scattered as far as the eye could see. Slowly and quietly, I made my way up the stairs to what I remembered as Dan's room. I pushed the door open slightly to see a familiar sight that warmed my heart. Dan's room was all black with his black and grey patterned duvet with a small llama teddy sitting on his pillow, I smiled. He was still a child at heart. MCR, (My Chemical Romance), Panic! At The Disco, Muse, and Pierce The Viel posters covered his walls. A small smile formed across my face, nothing had changed.

In the corner of my eyes, I noticed his bathroom door had light shining underneath it. My heart started racing as I made my way towards it. Heart in my throat as I turned the knob. My heart shattered at the sight before me. There was Dan, sitting in his bathtub fully clothed, sleeves rolled all the way up, razor blade in his hand and wrists slit. Hot tears streamed down my cheeks, his beautiful hazel eyes slowly shifted and met mine, "P-Phil...?" Instinctively I ran to him, grabbing his hands, just staring at them. I reached down and unplugged the bathtub to let the water drain out as I stood and walked out, "P-Phil?" I went to his dresser and grabbed him new clothes and some bandages. "Phil please listen I-" he stopped as I started to cry more and shake my head.
