~Dan's POV~

Never in a million years had I wanted to hurt Phil. And yet, here I was crying in his arms shouting and cursing at myself for being as terrible as I had been towards him, he was and still is my everything and I've treated him like a piece of shit. My attention slowly refocused when Phil's slender fingers softly rubbed along my cheeks, his breath mixing with mine as our foreheads once again pressed together leaving only inches between us. I felt myself breaking, he was so innocent, so pure and I ruined him and broke him into nothingness.  Quickly, I shut my eyes as more tears were starting to form, Phil's soft voice slowly calming me, his hands cupping my cheeks and my hands holding his. I was shaking, not because I was sad, no, I was shaking at the thought of Phil and I never being 'okay' again. And I knew, no matter how much I wanted to pretend none of this had ever happened and to start anew with Phil, I knew that this wasn't going to just go away. I knew this would one day come back and bite us in the ass and that this was one of the darkest parts of our relationship.

"Dan..." His voice was soft and overflowing with concern and grief, "I-I know why y-you did what you did. Y-you did what you h-had to do... I-I just t-thought I could h-help somehow... I wanted t-to help you... I never w-wanted to be the one causing you p-pain... Y-You were o-only trying to k-keep me safe and I-I didn't, I j-just didn't understand at the t-time..." His voice cracking as tears started to trickle down his cheeks once more. I found my heart skipping a beat when he smirked and snickered through his tears, he slowly took his balled up fists and wiped the tears from his face, "Well, they d-do say two halves, make a whole idiot. S-So, it seems we fit the part, huh?" A smile crept across my face as a small laugh burst through them. It seemed that even in the darkest of situations, Phil could always get us both to laugh and genuinely smile, like everything was alright.

Slowly I started to look up, dark clouds forming and the sound of thunder and lightning echoing through the trees. "We should probably head back to your mums," Phil looked confused, "Well, I kinda burst into the house looking for you without an explanation and then yelling your name and running out the door." Phil's expression was still before he smiled and unknowingly stuck his tongue through his teeth causing me to blush.

Phil giggled as he slowly got to his feet and reached out his hand towards me, "Then I guess we better go make sure my mother isn't having a heart attack or calling the police," I smiled and nodded as I took his hand. He smiled back at me as we walked hand in hand towards his house.
