I wake up the next morning with a pounding headache. James didn't end up going to his own room last night. This morning he went up to his room to get ready.

We head down to breakfast

We head down to breakfast. I'm honestly not hungry. Even the thought of food disgusts me. Still I force myself to eat at least a banana.
By the time I finish my food James comes moping out of the elevator. I walk over and grab him a banana.
He pushes it away when I go to hand it to him.
"James hun, I know your upset but you still have to eat. At least eat this." I say.
Reluctantly he takes the banana and starts to peel it.
Mrs. Nicholson walks over to us.
"You two are going to be flying back on Saturday, okay?" We both nod. "You guys don't have to stay with us. Take your roomates too. Try and have some fun while your here, yeah?" We nod again. She smiles and walks away.
"How about we just go and have some fun in the city while were here." He stays silent. "You know he would want you to."
A tear falls down his face. "I know" he says, barley above a whisper.
"Come on, lets go." Chris, Izzy, James and I walk out of the hotel.
When we were kids grandpa Jones brought us here. So, I figured while we were here we could revisit the places he took us. First up is the Jefferson Monument.
It's about a 20 minute walk there.
"He brought us here when we were kids, you remember that?" I ask. He just nods.
I grab his hand and drag him to the ledge where we took pictures as kids.
"I remember the last time we were here. You almost fell of the ledge." He says.
"Yeah, that was the closest I ever came to death." We both laugh.
I look around, "Where are Izzy and Chris?" I ask.
He points up near the entrence to the monument.
I look at him, the way the sunrise reflects off of his pale skin makes my heart skip a beat.
"You look so beautiful" he says barley above a whisper.
"What?" I question.
"Oh, I said that out loud?" He blushes.
"Remember, down in the pool? When we...?" He nods, "you think you'd..." before I can finish my sentence he places his lips on mine. The kiss was longer than before but still just as amazing.
When we finally part, no words are spoken.
We hear whistling and cheering coming from the the monument.
"Jayy, would you do me the honow of being my girlfriend?"
I nod, "James, I would love that."

Present time

That right there was one of the worst mistakes of my life.
I'm sure even he knows I regret that. Here's a hint kids, don't date your bestfriend. I know you may have feelings for them but still, don't do it. To this day I still miss just hanging out with him. He and I were friends since we were kids and now that we no longer are friends it's like a piece of me is gone.
