Chapter 28

Chapter 28
Ross POV
I got home from the store. My mom sent me to get so vegetables. I got the bags and went inside. I walked inside
and set the bags in the kitchen. I put the food away. Someone tapped on my shoulder. I turned around to see Rydel
standing there.
"Can we talk?" She asked. She had the biggest smile spread across her face.
"Sure. What about?" I asked.
"Follow me," She said. I followed her into the living room. Everyone was sitting all around the room. Rydel walked
up to Ellington and grabbed his hand. They looked around at us. "So what did you guys want to talk to us about?"
"Well, We have an important announcement." Rydel looked at Ellington then back at us.
At the same time they said. "We are engaged!" We all looked at them.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yep!" They said. Mom and Dad got up and hugged them.
"Congratulations!" Dad said.
"Thanks." They said. Why do they keep talking at the same time? Ellington put his arm around her.
"I am so happy for you two!" Mom said followed with a smile.
"If you are going to get married I'm glad it's Ellington!" Riker said. "I'm happy for you guys." Riker walked off to his
room. Rydel's smile started to fade.
"Rydellington forever!" Rocky said. He hugged Rydel then Ellington.
"I knew it! Riker and Rocky owe me twenty bucks!" Ryland said. He high fived them and ran after Riker and Rocky.
I got up and walked over to them.
"I am super glad! Congrats guys!" I said. I smiled and walked away.
I walked over to Rocky and Riker's room.
"You guys do realize that you were being a bit rude. You guys could have at least acted happy." I said.
"You know as well as me that they are making a mistake." Riker said.
"Yeah but they are happy!" I said.
"Ross is right we have to at least try and be nice." Ryland said. I nodded.
"But we can't just let them do that." Rocky said.
"But they learn from mistakes." Ryland said.
"And if they are truly in love then it won't be a mistake. Even if we all know it is we have to try and be happy for them. OK?" I said. They all nodded and I got up and left.
Rydel POV
My whole family was gone and I turned to Ell.
"My family didn't seem happy at all." I said. Ellington started rubbing my arms.
"They were all happy. You heard them." Ellington said.
"I think I'm going to go talk to my mom." I said. Ellington smiled and let me go.
I walked into the kitchen where my mom was. She was chopping onions and talking on the phone. I sat on the
counter next to where she was. She finished up and she put her phone down.
"Hi Sweetie! I'm so happy for you! What can I help you with?" My mom said.
"Yeah. I wanted to know how you honestly felt about me and Ellington?" I asked. My mom could barely look at me.
"Mom?" She looked down at the onion.
"I'm sorry sweetie. I just think that maybe you guys are making a mistake." My mom said. I was shocked.
"What do you mean a mistake?" I asked.
"I know you guys love each other... But you guys are still 20 and 21." My mom said.
"But that doesn't matter. You always use to say that age won't matter and now you are saying we are making a
mistake!" I yelled.
"I'm sorry honey."
"No! I can't believe you would say that!" I yelled and ran out of the kitchen.
I ran into Rocky and Riker's room. Ross and Ryland were also there playing video games.
"Do you think we are making a mistake?" I asked. They all looked at me with scared looks on their faces.
"Dell, What are you doing?" I looked back to see Ellington. I walked over to him.
"My mom doesn't approve. I told you. I knew it. I want to know what they think." I said. Ellington moved his hand
towards them as to tell me to keep going.
"So do you?" I asked.
"Well I think maybe you guys should wait another year or two." Riker said. I looked back at Ellington.
"That's just Riker's opinion." Ellington shrugged.
"I agree with Riker Delly. Sorry." Ryland said.
I started to run away. I ran right into Ellington. He put his arms around me. I tried to get out of his grip but it didn't
work.
"Rydel we need to talk this out." Ellington said.
"No! We don't need them to get married! We don't!" I yelled.
"No Rydel. You don't want to block them out Delly. It's not the right choice." Ellington said. I looked him right in the
eye.
I walked past him and down the hall. I could hear footsteps behind me. They got louder and louder.
"Go away Ell." I yelled.
"We should talk about this!" Ell yelled back.
"No!" I yelled.
"Dell! Watch where you're going!" Ellington yelled. I tried to turn the corner but ran into the wall. I fell down. I
screamed and Ellington ran up to me. "Delly!" He yelled. I sat up.
"I'm ok." I said holding my head.
"Let me see, Ellington said. I turned towards him and he looked at the back of it. "You hit it pretty hard.
You should be fine." Ellington said.
I started to cry. Ellington pulled me into his lap. He started rocking back and forth cause that comes me down.
He put his hand on the back of my head. A sharp pain raced through my body. I screamed a bit and Ellington
jumped.
"That hurt." I said.
"Sorry." Ellington said. I laid my head on his chest and cried harder.
"Let's go home." I said.
"We are home Sweetie." I said.
"No I want to go to your home. Ell I want to get out of here." I said. Ellington nodded and picked me up.
We got in the car. Ellington drove off.
