Chapter 17

Ellington’s POV

It’s been a couple days since I hurt my eye. I’ve been avoiding Rydel so that she can move on but she keeps calling. She called a minute ago and is now threatening to come to my house if I don’t answer. I’m just gonna let her come. As if on cue the doorbell rang. I just sat there not wanting to get the door.

“ELLINGTON LEE RATLIFF YOU OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW!!” Rydel yelled banging on my door. I walked over and opened it. And she punched me right in the nose. Really hard.

“Well that was uncalled for.” I said.

“Why the hell would you ignore me like that?” She said punched me in the stomach. “And why would you act like you died?!?!?” She then kicked me in a not so lovely place.

“I might die if you keep attacking me.” I said

“Lets hope so cause I never want to see you again!” Rydel said kicked me in the stomach and ran to her car.

I fell to the floor and screamed. Suddenly I heard a gunshot I tried to get up. It took a minute but I did it. I slowly walked to the door. I was holding my stomach because she hurt me pretty bad. I opened the door. I walked outside and looked around. Rydel was crying by a post holding her arm. Her eyes were closed and she was rocking back a forth. I started running even though I barely could.

“RYDEL!” I yelled.

“Ellington?” She said.

“Over here baby.” I said leaning down next to her.

“My arm… It hurts.”

“I know sweetie. I know.” I grabbed it and pulled her into my arms. She started crying. I took a deep breath. She started choking up.

“I’m sorry for hurting you. Whatever I did to make you want to avoid me…. I’m so sorry.”

“Rydel…. It wasn’t you it was me. I think I was afraid of hurting you. I do it all the time.” She opened her eyes and looked down at her sleeve it was covered in blood. She looked up at my face. I slightly smiled.

“Friends?” Rydel asked.

“No…. More then friends.”

“I really do Love you.” Rydel looked down and screeched.

“Rydel we need to get you inside.” I said.

“No you can’t carry me.”

“Why not?”

“You could barely get yourself out here.”

“I will carry you. I love you too and I will carry you even if I’m pain. You mean more to me.”

“OK.” I picked her up and started walking to my door. I opened the door and put her on the couch.

“I’ll get you a clean shirt.”

“Hurry.” I nodded and ran down the hall to my room. I had a shirt and a cardigan. It was her favorites of mine. I walked back to her and handed them to her. She sat up and stared at me.

“Right sorry.” I walked into the kitchen. I got ice and a band-aid. The bullet didn't go in it just brushed the top of her skin and that can hurt even worse. She called me back in and she pulled up the cardigan sleeve. I put the bandage on it and then put the ice on top of that.

“Did you see who did this?” I asked while dabbing her forehead with a wet cloth. She was sweating like crazy.

“N-n-no” She said. she could barely talk.
