Chapter 4

Kevin's POV

It felt like an eternity had passed and more when I gazed, okay, stared at her. She seemed even more beautiful if that was possible. Was it possible for someone to become more beautiful in just a day? I can't believe I didn't sense her in the school. Probably 'cause I was too busy thinking about her instead. I mentally punched myself. Was I always this easily distracted? And she was smart too! APUSH, yeah!

The teacher cleared her throat. What was her name again? Whatever, I didn't give a damn.

I flashed the class my trademark smile. "Hey, nice to meet you guys. I'm Kevin. Kevin Moore" Then I looked at that girl, my mate, again. Well, more like stare. And I added. "I'm looking forward to know you guys. Very well."

All the girls in the class seemed to swoon. Mark rolled his eyes. But I only had eyes for one girl. My mate. She blushed. So adorable. I just wanted to go up to her and hug her. Actually, to be honest, I wanted to do much more than hug her but I didn't want to scare her off. She had such an innocent aura. Also, humans were not supposed to know about werewolves. And, I didn't want a human for a mate. Of course, all these good reasons to stay away from her seem to go up in smoke every time I see her. My wolf ignored my inner turmoil. What did he care? It was just crystal clear to him. Mates are meant to be with each other. No matter what. If it was only that simple...

The teacher, oh yes, Ms. Hastings was her name, I think...cleared her throat. "Well, nice to meet you to. Please settle down."

I went to the back of the class with Mark. We sat next to each other. Birds of a feather flock together. Well, it's wolves but you get my point...

I started talking to Mark through the mind link. Even though we weren't from the same pack, we had formed one. You could always add wolves to a mind link but it won't work as well over long distances if they weren't from your pack. Since we were sitting next to each other, it served my purposes. I just wanted to ask about my mate. It didn't matter if I didn't pay attention in class. Werewolves were naturally smart, strong, and good-looking. Especially the alphas. Not that I'm being cocky...

"Hey, Mark. Who's that girl sitting 2 seats in front of you? She looks...cute." Actually, I wanted to say ravishing, gorgeous, beautiful...especially mine but then he would get suspicious.

"Hmm, she's pretty cute." I growled at his comment. He turned to look at me strangely. "Well, she's Kylie Janson. XC runner. Smart. Quiet. Good-girl type if you know what I mean. Don't know much."

XC runner? No wonder I saw her running the other day...I should join XC. To know her better. But I hate running in my human form. In fact, werewolves rarely took on a running sport. Why run in your human form when you could run in your wolf form? The difference between running in a human form and a wolf form was incomparable. But I should really stay as far away from her as possible. Not that I can since she's already in one of my classes...probably more since she's smart too.

Mark interrupted my thoughts. "Are you aiming for her or something?" He turned at me, smirking. "'cause she's gonna be hard to get. I tried before. Not too hard but I did."

I growled. Louder this time. Damn, why couldn't I control my feelings? He gave me a look. "Cool it man!" But the teacher had heard. So did the rest of the class. And my mate. They all looked at me.

Can I say awkward silence?

Just as I was about to say something, Ms. Hastings spoke. "Would you like to voice your concerns to the rest of the class, Kevin?" She added with a snort. "Whatever that bothers you so much that you would growl?"

I winked at her. "Sorry. I just couldn't stop thinking about how sexy your ass looked in that skirt." Not that I did. She was pretty darn old, about 45 by the looks of her. And she, like all the other girls, could not hold a candle to my mate...

Ms. Hastings blushed. Not a beautiful, endearing delicate rosy blush like my mate's but an ugly beetroot red. "That was out of order. We will...move on to...George Washington's inauguration. dinner. I mean, his crossing of the Delaware River?"

She was all flustered. I snickered under my breath. Mark shook his head but he smiled too.
