~ 어디에 가십니까?

(Where are you going?)

앙리: 어디에 가십니까?

히로미: 아르바이트를 하러 신촌에 갑니다.

앙리: 어디에서 아르바이트를 합니까?

히로미: 여행사에서 합니다.

Henri: Where are you going?

Hiromi: I am going to Sinchon to do my part-time job.

Henri: Where do you work?

Hiromi: I work at a travel agency.

1. ~에

-is added to place nouns. It joins with the verbs(가다, 오다, 다니다, etc.) which express movement as a postposition.

Example:

어디에 가십니까? [Where are you going?]

일을 하러 회사에 갑니다. [I am going to work at the company.]

어제 한국에 왔습니다. [I came to Korea yesterday.]

2. ~(으)러

-marks the purpose of going somewhere. This is an expression to denote intent and purpose of shifting, with verbs(가다, 오다, 다니다, etc.) which express shift followed by -(으)러. If there is no final consonant at the verb stem and there is a final consonant 'ㄹ', '-러' is used. If there is final consonants other than 'ㄹ', '-으러' is used.

Example:

선물을 사러 갑니다. [I am going to buy a present.]

도서관에 책을 읽으러 왔습니다. [I came to the library to read a book.]

주말에 놀러 갑니다. [I go out for the weekend.]

3. ~에세

This is postposition joining with place nouns. It expresses the fact that such actions or conditions takes place.

Example:

서점에서 책을 삽니다. [I buy a book at a bookstore.]

공원에서 산책을 합니다. [I go for a walk in the park.]

어디에서 한국말을 배우십니까? [Where are you learning Korean?]

4. ~어디

This is an interrogative pronoun to ask the location.

Example:

집이 어디입니까? [Where is your house?]

어디에 가십니까? [Where are you going?]

어디에서 점심을 잡수십니까? [Where do you have lunch?]
