Sophie's POV
*
I step the house with a thumping heart, feeling goosebumps all over my body at the way I just spoke to that lady. I can't believe I did that, and even with so much confidence. One minute I was cowering and the next, I'm running my mouth and giving her a giving her a piece of my mind.
I've never done something like that, even though people have been harsh towards me before. The mere thought of my response towards her treatment earlier has me shuddering. But I feel fulfilled.
It feels great to speak for yourself when people are trying to trample on you.
Why do people make others feel so below them? I think that act is disgusting.
Looking around, I suck in a deep breath and rub my hands over my upper arms, crossing them over as a shudder runs through me for the umpteenth time.
The air is a bit chilly but cool.
I walk around in search of Demola and spot him crouched, his back against a wall and his hands on Oli's shoulder. They look like they're in a deep conversation.
With a smile on my face, I move closer to them but not enough to intrude on their privacy.
"Do you understand me baby?" I hear him telling her when I'm standing within a few feet from them.
Oli nods and sucks on her lower lip. Feeling like I might be intruding their father and daughter moment, I stay within an earshot and just stare at them.
"That's not a good enough response, baby."
"Yes Sir." She replies.
He nods in approval. "Now go in and we'll go home soon."
"With Sophie?" She asks with inquisitive eyes.
My heart thumps more wildly in my chest. Does she hate me now that her daddy said we're dating?
My eyes widens when I remembered he actually called me his girlfriend and I slowly begin to seethe. The damn man didn't even speak to me about it first!
But I'm glad he did it then and there, at least the look on that Brittany Spear's face compensates for my mood.
I also wasn't expecting him to make such an announcement like that.
Especially when I now know that the woman in there hates me. She thinks I want to steal her so-called friend, though it is obvious Demola doesn't feel the same way towards her."Do you want her to leave with us?"
"Yes daddy. I like Sophie, very much." I can hear the excitement in her voice. I wonder what they were talking about before I came out.
I breathe out in relief.
"Okay then. We will go home with her."
"Alright, love you." She singsongs and runs back inside. Stepping out of the dark, I approach Demola who is now straightening up.
"What was that all about?" I demand.
He turns sideways, looking surprised that I've been hanging around.
"What?"
"Don't play dumb with me. You almost embarrassed me in there." I whisper yell.
A small frown mars his face. "What do you mean?"
"Why did you call me your girlfriend that way?"
He narrows his eyes at me. "How should I have said it? In Spanish?" His use of sarcasm is getting better.
