Demola's POV
*
A lady approaches us with a smile, the bright colours of magazine in one hand already diverting my attention for a second.
Her smile alone is blinding, talk less the brightness of her teeth.
"Welcome to Abeni's stores. What ma-"
"I need a gown, a dinner gown." Sophie cuts her off as her eyes scans the boutique.
"Alright. If that's all, come with me please." The middle aged lady says.
"Uh...can I come too?" I pass a flirty look at Sophie, winking afterwards. The lady catches my look and looks away in embarrassment, not knowing how to respond.
"He was only joking." Sophie asks with a smile though her eyes glares at me. "Right?"
She fixes me that reprimanding stare I'm all too used to, turning it into a sickly sweet smile when the woman glances her way. I laugh at my handful of a girlfriend who is still glaring as she faces me once again.
"I'll stay here, and I was only kidding. Go around and pick whatever you like." I tell Sophie as she looks around the store and walks away with the woman.
She looks really beautiful even though she doesn't wear extravagant clothes or use makeup every other day. I never fail to notice the day she applies mascara or lip gloss because it's rarely on her.
Immediately I sit, I'm surprised to see Sophie rushing back towards me and rocking herself on the balls of her feet, tucking her tongue into the side of her mouth.
"What's wrong?" I ask softly and wonder why my heart flutters whenever she's this close to me. I should've gotten used to the feeling but I still haven't.
"Uh, I just want to say thank you for this Demola. I really appreciate you doing so much for me." She mumbles, crouching to steal a peck. She looks so cute I feel like dragging her to a corner and kissing her into a state of breathlessness but I reign down the temptation to do that.
"You're welcome baby. You're welcome."
As she finally walks away with the lady who looks shy to be witnessing our display of affection woman, I make myself comfortable on the chair around the entrance and get busy with checking my mails.
Just as I reply a mail and keep the phone back into my pocket, mg ringing tone blares into the surrounding, making me heave a sigh.
I fish it out of my pocket and smile when Brittany's picture comes on display. I have it stored along with her name.
"Hello?"
"Hey. How are you doing?" Her soft voice asks.
I smile at the question. She has been really supportive since Simi's death, even though Oli doesn't know her so well. She is usually busy with her clothing brand, along with the company where she sometimes assists her dad and bothers.
"I'm good."
"Alright. So, I saw someone that looks like you enter a store just now. With a girl...." Her pitchy voice says. I furrow my brows with a smile and look out into the street through the glass doors.
"Yes, I'm probably the one you saw."
"In a red polo and Jeans?"
"Yes."
She squeals in glee.
"Yay. I'm coming right away and I've missed you so much. We didn't have time to chat much the other day."
