Sevastyan was indeed a talented dancer.
It made me wonder a bit more in his background in what he did before becoming a vampire, but with seeing him genuinely happy made me not wish to ruin the moment. But part of me did wish that Ivan could be here enjoying it too.
Suddenly, and what felt rather out of character, Sevastyan embraced me into a hug. Well, sort of. When he moved away I realized he had placed something around my neck, and even within my hair.
"The hairpin is from Ivan; the necklace is from me. Their both made of silver and since your earrings is also silver with a Blue Aquamarine stone correct?"
"How did you...?"
His smile turned rather devilish. "I checked with Mercedes when she and Abigale were helping you getting a gown for tonight."
He planned this from the beginning. I thought deadpan. I looked down to my collarbone where the necklace rested and found it held no rose motif, in which he said.
"I thought you'd be board with getting times that roses all the time. The silver hair comb is actually a swan. We both thought to at least be somewhat original when it came to getting you a gift as a late Christmas gift and for your birthday. It is today after all."
Now that surprised me. In fact with all that was happening I had completely forgotten that it was today. "How..."
"Edmond," he states rather proudly. "Although, I had to pry it from the bastard, it took several attempts when you were not around. The man can be as tight lipped as Ivan when he wants to be, I swear. It's not like I had any nefarious planned on you."
I honestly wasn't sure if that was supposed to be a complement or an insult. All I could guess was that it must have taken a long time to get Edmond to give in to letting them know what my date of birth was. On top of which when I first met him, the word "villain" had instantly popped into my head. Who wouldn't think that when you see someone who you don't know smile as if they knew your biggest secret. I'm glad I was wrong, but still.
"Now, speaking of the man, I need to go speak with him." He then did something strange and placed his hands along my cheeks. "Sorry to cut our dance short my dear." And then proceeded to squish my cheeks lightly before stepping back. "That was also from Ivan."
I found myself having a hard time believing that, it seemed so out of character for Ivan, let along Sevastyan. I merely watched as the copper-redheaded man disappeared into the crowd, leaving me alone with the dancers. But not for long.
"And here I thought I would have to interrupt." Behind me stood Vladimir. He smiled down at me, his amber-red eyes filled with warmth. "I'm glad to see that you've come to the gala tonight, I was worried. After what happened the night before."
"I've dealt with worse." I merely say.
"You have indeed," he then offers me a hand. "Would you be so kind as to take a dance with me?"
I grasped his hand without hesitation, even though I knew that this man has killed, so many others had as well. With his strong grip he flowed into a dancing motion, but seemed to change his stance so I wouldn't have a problem keeping up with his stride. With how tall this man was I was actually surprised at just how fast he adjusted to dancing with someone of my height. But I felt as though he had done this before with many others. In a strange sense, this feeling I had being with this man, was similar to Edmond.
