Chapter 8

Lunch

Normani, Austin, and Alex had already got their food and sat at their table. Camila stood in line, then she saw Dinah walk in.

"Dinah!" Camila said as she waved her over

Dinah waved back and started to walk over to Camila, "Hey Camila! Whats up?"

"Nothing much. Hey, what are your last two classes/electives after lunch?" Camila asked.

"Well I have math after this and for my elective I chose Spanish," Dinah said as she grabbed some food.

"Really?! Me too! I chose Spanish cuz I knew I'd ace it! Like a boss!" Camila said with a smile.

The 2 girls laugh at the comment.

"You're too funny Camila," said Dinah.

"Thanks Dinah! At least we have more than just 1st period together!" Camila said happily.

"Yeah guuuurrrrlll that'd be a terrible waste!"

They laugh again and start to get the rest of their food.

"So wanna sit with me and my friends.?" Camila asked.

"Sure," Dinah said happily.

Camila smiled, "ok, let's go."

Camila and Dinah took their food to the table Normani, Alex, and Austin were at.

"Heeeeyyyy Camz!" Normani said greeting her friend.

"Heeeeyyyy Mani!" Camila said back.

"Hi Camila," Austin and Alex said together.

"Hi guys," Camila said as she sat down.

"Who's this?" Austin asked.

Everyone turned to Dinah.

"Guys this Dinah Jane Hansen."

"Why'd you say her full name?" Alex asked.

Camila and Dinah look at each of her and burst out laughing.

"Believe me that is not my FULL name!" Dinah said as she sat down.

"Ok than," everyone said, except Dinah and Camila.

"Guys Dinah is really cool. I invited her over to join our little band of misfits!" The Cuban said as she began to eat.

"You should know we don't except uglies..." Alex said nonchalantly.

Normani, Austin, and Camila looked shocked and Dinah looked sad.

"Good thing you're hella fine!" He quickly added.

Everyone's face softened and laughed, except Normani's... She got serious and she hit Alex on his arm.

"What!" He asked innocently.

Normani gave him the look and walked away.

"Oh come on, I wasn't serious!" Alex yelled after her.

Everyone looked at the foolish boy. He rolled his eyes in response as he approached Dinah, "Sorry about that. I'm Alex, Alex Constancio. Oh and Dinah you did know that was a joke. You're not at all ugly. But I'm taken. I mean you're pretty but so are Camila and Normani, and they're like sisters. I didn't mean anything by what was just said. Now if you don't mind I gotta make sure Normani don't go and tell on me to my girl aka her best friend. Nice meeting you Dinah. See y'all later."

"Yeah, yeah. Haha go save your butt Constancio. No harm done," Dinah said with a toothy grin.

Alex waved and ran after Normani. You could hear him yell, "Mani, wait!!! You know Ally's my little ball of sunshine! I would never do something to jeopardize that. IT WAS A JOKE!!!"

The rest laugh.

"Sometimes he needs to think things through," Austin said through laughs. Camila and Dinah nod in agreement

"Just out of curiosity. Are you two dating?" Dinah asked.

Camila and Austin looked at each other and blushed. Camila hid behind her hair.

"Nooo," she replied.

"I wish..." Austin said ever so quietly.

"What?" Dinah and Camila asked

"Oh nothing," he lied.

Dinah nudges Camila and whispered, "He likes you."

"What? Naw, he's been my friend since 2nd grade. He's practically my brother," Camila whispered back.

"Well then I sense some incest coming up," Dinah whispered in reply.

Camila looked at Dinah, like tf, and then laughed, "You're stupid Dinah. That'd just not gonna happen."

"Suuuuurrrreee!" Dinah said with a wink.

"You guys know it's rude to whisper," Austin said to get their attention.

They laughed, "Haha Sorry Austin."

"It's cool, so Dinah do tell me about yourself," Austin said as he ate.

"Shoo... Sit back y'all! This is not gonna be the condensed version I did in class! Ok we start out in Tonga when ..." Dinah started out and continued until lunch was over.

"Come on Dinah lets head to math. Bye Austin," Camila said with a wave.

"Bye Mila. Bye Dinah," Austin said

"Bye. And ask Normani if she's mad at me. She seems cool and Alex too," Dinah explained

"Will do. See ya," he responded with a smile and wave.
