I wake up the next morning feeling antsy and on edge more so than I have been lately. Some portion of me knows that something bad is going to happen tomorrow night. No, it's tonight because I fell asleep overnight against my will. I need to find a way into Izzy's room and check on her. With that thought in mind I dress in black leather pants and a black corset top with my hair in a bun. I pull on a pair of heels before locking up and making my way to where the Lightwoods are. I climb up the house towards the room with a candle burning in it. I open the window easily causing me to give a quiet chuckle looking in.

"Well if this isn't a familiar sight I don't know what is." I say in a playful tone causing Isabelle's head to whip in my direction.

"By the Angel Jay you startled me. How did you know the window would be open?"

"I didn't thankfully it was. Where are you going?"

"To where Clary is staying so I can see her."

"I'll meet you outside then. I'll help lead you there since I know where she's been staying."

Before she can answer I leave through the window causing her to look out for me. She gives a huff causing me to grin before she disappears into the room. Simon comes out of the house and looks startled at me waiting out here. I give a laugh at the look and he gives an awkward smile.

"What did you mean by that was a familiar sight?"

"My coming through her window is a very common occurrence back home. If one of us is upset I slip through her window to spend the night with her. That's why I came to her because I can feel her through our Parabati rune. We both know Clary won't be awake when we arrive so what are we going to do?"

"Make breakfast for her and who she is staying with. I'm thinking pancakes. What do you thing Jay?"

"Pancakes sound good. Let's head out if we want to get there before Clary wakes."

We fall silent into our thoughts as we make our way to Amatis' house. Once there I give a polite knock on the door and bite my lip knowing she can refuse to let us in. She opens the door and looks surprised to see the three of us on her doorstep. I give her a smile and she gives a smile before stepping back to allow us to enter.

"I hope you don't mind us coming out of the blue Amatis. Izzy wanted to see Clary and we decided to cook for you and her. That is if you don't mind us using your kitchen."

"Go ahead. You, of all people, know that I can't cook anything. She's still sleeping upstairs though."

"That's fine. It'll be a surprise when she comes downstairs. The angel knows we all need a happy moment right now."

She nods as we all move to the kitchen to begin cooking. Simon sits with her at the table as Izzy and I begin cooking. I hum as we work causing Izzy to give a small smile making me smile as well. I continue even when Clary enters the room and speaks to everyone. I pay her no heed as I'm engrossed in making the pancakes without burning any of them. Izzy bumps my shoulder making me realise my tongue is partially peeking out as I concentrate. I blink as she tries to hold her laughter inside.

"All is see is that Jace is your brother just like Max was," says Clary, "and you cared what happened to him."

"Clarissa Morgenstern! How dare you!" I snap out in a clipped tone.

"Max," Isabelle says with a tightly controlled fury, "was a little boy, not a fighter—he was nine years old. Jace is a Shadowhunter, a warrior. If we fight Valentine do you think Alec won't be in the battle? That Jay won't be sneaking away to fight with Raphael as well? Do you think we've not all of us, at all times, prepared to die if we have to, if the cause is great enough? Valentine is Jace's father; Jace probably has the best chance of all of us of getting close to him to do what he has to do—"

"Valentine will kill Jace if he has to," Clary says. "He won't spare him."

"I know."

"Clarissa do you think we honestly don't know that. Damn it! I know the best of that than anyone else because our father doesn't understand love. He would kill me in a heartbeat without any remorse because I am just something he created."

I turn away from them and block them out to calm myself down once more. Once I turn around I register familiar footsteps coming closer and stiffen up realising who is coming. I was expecting more time than this, but it can't be helped. Amatis opens the door and speaks, but I don't register the words as she pushes past Amatis. I see Clary's look and put myself ahead of her directly in my mother's line of sight.
