Not long after I appeared Simon and Maia came to the encampment making me give a nod. I knew once Simon heard Raphael he would come here to help save lives because that's the way Simon is. Maia flickers her eyes to me in slight fear before I give her a cheerful wave that has her confused. I walk up with Raphael as he makes his way to Simon and I frown. I knew this would be the outcome if he came, but he is dangerous and I mustn't let my emotions cloud my judgement. I need to become the weapon my father created so that I may survive the battle that will soon happen. I see him realise what is about to happen and he looks to me with wide fearful eyes. I flick my eyes away knowing I don't want to see this happen.

"Jade you're just going to let me die all over again? How can you be so calm?" He says confused.

"You fool. I don't want this to happen, but whatever changed you did it in an unnatural way. There's no telling what you can do and we can't risk it. Your a little brother to me Simon, but I cannot intervene in such a matter. I am a Shadowhunter and this is a vampire matter."

"I have something to show the two of you first."

Dread fills me and my head snaps on his direction as he brushes his bangs back. I realise what is upon his brow and take a step back in shock and fear knowing what it means. Some of the other vampires look worried seeing my reaction to what is on his brow and I know who set this upon his brow. A stream of profanities leave my lips as I move to get a closer look to validate what I think.

"You both are fools to place such a mark on your brow. You might have thought it would protect you, but it only makes you a target. If you see my sister after this battle tell her she is a fool for this."

Before anything can be said I move to one of the tents as I begin placing a few marks on my body. This is going to be a bloody battle with many lives lost and there is nothing I can do. I put my weapons upon my body before leaving the tent and walk to the battlefield with the vampires. I know if I was to be seen I could be in grave trouble for being on the field instead of being in Idris. Only I don't care what the Clave wants from me because this is a battle that I must be a part of. Not long after we arrive on the battle field I'm spotted and a group comes our way making me slip behind Raph. He chuckles knowing who exactly I'm hiding from as Magnus and Alec lead the group towards us.

"J, what the hell are you doing out here?"

"Finishing what I started Mags. I never should have let it get this bad, but I turned a blind eye because they were the two of my family who pretended to love me."

They all blink surprised before we hear a roar making our heads snap towards the sky. I swear colourfully as I pull my sword from its sheath and get ready for the demons that have been released. The battle begins and I lose myself in the feeling of the battle allowing myself to veer away from the others. Demons fall under my blade quickly until a familiar demon steps in front of me making a smirk appear.

"It's been a long time since I saw you in battle old one."

"Yes well this time I won't be losing to you because you've been reckless young one. You told your father your one weakness and now I'm going to use it against you foolish girl."

"I should have planned all of this better. Except I was a fool looking for love in all the wrong places and I placed my trust in him. I can only hope that someone slays you later in the battle field."

We launch at one another and I attempt to keep out of range of his claws seeing the ooze that is on it. I should have known telling my father the only three demon poisons that could harm me would backfire like this. However, I won't be going down easily and this demon knows from our previous battles just how much of a fight I give. I manage to get a few good slices on him drawing his blood making him hiss angrily as I give a smirk before my eyes widen in shock. I had lowered my guard for a split second and now his claw is buried in my abdomen. I can feel the poison enter my blood stream, but still smirk as I run my sword right through his heart killing him. He gives a smirk right before he fades into dust and I clench my chest. I hear someone vampire run to my side making me look up to see Lily looking worried for me.

"Lily where is Raph at?"

"I'm sorry mistress I lost sight of him in the battle. Are you dying?" I see the worry in her eyes making me give a smirk.

Raph I need you to find me on the field and bring Magnus with you please. I'm dying and I don't know how long I'll hold out.

I hear a vampire hiss across the field and chuckle knowing it Raph coming to find me. As the poisons course through my veins my control of mind reading fails allowing me to hear everyone's thoughts at once. I can hear three familiar thoughts coming my way and open my eyes when I'm handed off to see Raph holding me. However, at some point my legs have given out and I'm lying on the ground.

"Who did this to you?"

"An old foe that my father knew would willingly fight me to the death. Only he gave the demon the knowledge of the only three demon venoms that can kill me. All three of them are coursing through my veins as we speak."

"Your father..." Alec whispers horrified.

"Essentially sent out a Mafia hit on me with this demon because he refuses to let me live. Raph remember that talk we had? It's time for it to happen because the only thing keeping me here is my strength.

I smile at Magnus and Alec's thoughts as they realise what I'm saying. The two of them grab a hand each as Raph tightens his hold on me. That's when I feel Alec's tears fall in me and my composure fractures seeing the one person I know is strong fall apart over me. I don't have long to think about that when I feel Raph bite into my neck knowing it's the fastest way. I begin fading away as Raph trickles his blood into my mouth and my body swallows on auto pilot before giving out completely.
