Epilogue

Ethan Nestor's YouTube channel seemed to be dead. Sure, the comments sections were abuzz with concern; when a YouTube celebrity drops off the face of the earth, their fans will be confused. But no videos had been posted for quite some time. 

A few weeks after CrankGameplays's disappearing act, a video was uploaded.

"What is up my Cranky Crew? It's Ethan from CrankGameplays, and today we are here again in Mario Kart, and Jesse's back to beat me again," Ethan laughed. "Say, hi, Jesse!"

"Hello," Jesse grinned broadly into the camera, and they started the game. 

Ethan mentioned during the video that he'd recently had a break-in, which explained his hospital visit. He also announced that his computer seemed to have stopped corrupting video files at random, and he was excited to get back to work. 

A highly observant viewer might have noticed Ethan's occasional nervous glances at the camera- but they were few and far between. Kind of like the way the screen flickered with a slight blue tint once or twice during the game. But this was all very subtle, very easy to miss.

And Jesse knew, as she glanced over at Ethan, who had his tongue sticking out in concentration, that Blank was still hiding somewhere on the computer. Maybe he was weakened, maybe he was gathering his strength. 

But they knew how to beat him now. And they'd rise to any challenge together. 

Before they knew it, the video was over. 

Ethan rattled off his outro with a practiced air, grinning as he shouted, "...but anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the video; if you did, make sure to slap that like button right in the face-! And I will see you guys in the next video. Love you all, stay cranky! Bye!" Jesse winked at the camera for good measure, and they both held up their hands to wave good-bye.

And with that, the footage cut out- but footage never tells the whole story. 

The rest is up to us.

I loved writing this- I've never actually done a formal fanfic before.  I've written original stories, but nothing based on a person or a character that I didn't create.
