Ethan insisted on walking Jesse back to her car, despite Jesse's objections. Her car was always a mess, full of art supplies abandoned halfway to class and half-finished drawings that inevitably cluttered the floor. It was one of the reasons Jesse hated driving people; her passengers would be knee high in colored pencil shavings and broken paintbrushes.

But when they came to her car, Ethan noticed the slew of sketches that had accumulated under her back window.

"Oh my lanta!" he gasped, tilting his head to see through the glare. "You drew these?"

Jesse smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. None of them are finished, though."

Ethan held his hand over the glass in order to get a better look inside. "Look at this stuff! Jesse, this is amazing!"

"You really think so?" She grinned. Suddenly, it was as if a light had clicked on in her brain. "Hang on just a second," she said, unlocking the sedan and diving into the back seat. She fished a sketchbook out of the mess, flipped through a few pages, and handed it to Ethan.

It was a pencil drawing of him, mid-laugh. Ethan's eyes lit up as he looked at it.

"Fanart, I guess," Jesse winced. "I don't really do much fanart, though."

"This is incredible," Ethan said happily. He looked up at Jesse. "Do you do digital media, too, or just pen-and-paper stuff?"

"I actually do most of my drawing on the computer nowadays, yeah," Jesse nodded. Ethan handed the sketchbook back to Jesse, who could see the gears turning in her head.

"Hey, maybe I could, like, commission you to help with my thumbnails and stuff," he said, looking hopeful.

"Are you kidding?" Jesse grinned, eyes lighting up. "I'd love to."

"Really?" Ethan said. "A-are you sure? That's awesome!"

"Of course!" Jesse replied, beaming. "Thumbnails sound fun! For a... for a friend, I guess."

Their eyes locked, and Jesse felt a chill down her spine. They both froze up, contemplating each other. Jesse became very aware of how brightly his eyes sparkled in the sunlight.

"Yeah," Ethan furrowed his brow, breaking the silence. "That'd- that'd be great!"

"Text me and let me know what you need," Jesse added. "You can send me pictures and I'll touch them up or... whatever you need."

"Th-thanks, Jesse," he said, looking a little red.

"Thank you," Jesse tried to smile. After a moment, she realized she was staring again and got quickly into her car. "I'll talk to you later, Ethan," she said.

"You'd better!" Ethan laughed. "Bye, Jesse."
