The Next Day
Original AllieAllie ran her fingers through her tangled hair, slowly tucking the end of her bangs behind her ear. Looking at herself in the mirror for a moment before she checked the time seeing it was eight o'clock, she slid her phone into her pocket. 'Okay. I need to grab my purse, the paperwork for the Café and Pub, and my keys. I need to be out of the café by quarter after, and back at home by eight thirty.' The brunette slowly stood up letting out a soft sigh before she walked out of the room, and down the steps. She grabbed the paperwork, and her purse and was on her way to the Café.
Allie took her time as she walked looking at the leaves that were already changing colors. 'I wonder if-' An imagine flashed through her head, a familiar face, a devilish smile, and dark eyes. She winced bringing her palm to her forehead, before continuing to walk trying to ignore the face of the man, that had once caused her so much pain. After a moment she arrived lightly knocking on the door to the small café.
Britt came to the door with a wide smile. " Ah! Ya bright thing, I knew you wouldn't forget it." Her Irish accent coming out as she spoke. "Keegan wanted to see you before you left if you came in today." Britt said softly as she held the door open allowing her to walk inside. "He's in back." Motioning Allie to go in doorway behind the counter.
"Alright, thank you." Allie said before she walked inside and tentatively stepping behind the counter. She began to walk through the door way when all of a sudden she came face to face with a black t-shirt, finding herself coming to a quick stop.
Keegan lurched back a bit, his foot slipped on the white tiled floor. He started to fall backwards grabbing the counter knocking over a bowl of sugar along his descent. He landed on his back and elbows, sugar coating the upper part of his body.
"Oh my god are you okay?!" Allie asked nervously at first until she heard him beginning to chuckle and shake his head yes her was fine. Allie began to laugh softly tears coming to the corner of her eyes as she began to laugh a bit harder. The brunette woman reached to hand him a nearby towel. After a moment of laughing, she watching him stand and begin to brush off the sugar. "So why did you want to see me?"
"Oh, Um." His face flushed a bit. "Actually I think it can wait." Keegan said brushing the sugar out of his hair. "Did you bring in the paper work?"
Allie held out the paper. "Every thing is signed, and all the information is filled out. So I'm ready to start when you need me here. My number is on the paper and if you want you can text me the days I'm going to be working." She said as she tucked some hair behind her ear nervously fidgeting.
"Alrigh-" Keegan started to say when all of a sudden.
" Keegan Wick Reid! What did you do that was my sugar for the donuts!" Britt exclaimed from the doorway. "Allie go on dear I gotta whoop this boy." She said with a bit of a eye roll. "This child could slip on air." Britt said as she went and grabbed Keegan by his piercing, walking him to the back door urging him outside. "Get all the sugar off before you come back in."
Allie had grabbed the broom and was beginning to sweep up the sugar on the floor. "It's okay, I can stay and help until 8:20 then I have to go to school."
"Thank you little darlin, we really need the help." Britt said with a bit of a sigh as she went to find another bag of sugar.
Allie couldn't help but smile a bit. In her mother's home every thing had to be perfect. A straight schedule, and every thing had to be neat and tidy. But here, the chaos still held some sort of a flow, something she couldn't put her finger on.
