July 27th

After we left the zoo, we quickly went to my apartment to pick up an overnight bag for me since I was spending the night at his house. I'm really nervous about this, but he assured me that if I ever got uncomfortable during the night, he would sleep on the floor.

After giving Kineti a quick kiss on the tip of her snout, I went to go say goodbye to my dads, who were cuddling on their bed, talking.

"What makes you happy Dan? What could help how you're feeling?" Papa asked, kissing Dads forehead.

"Well, that's pretty simple. Laughter, food, and sex. So basically stuff coming in and out of my mouth, apparently." Dad responds quietly. "Wow, side note, Google 'oral fixation' later."

"Dan you can't say that!" Papa laughs. "What can I do to help?"

I left after that, not wanting to know what would happen.

"Got everything?" Cameron asked, clipping my helmet on me.

"I think so. At least I got the essentials." I respond, tilting my chin up so he could do the clasp under my chin.

"Well, you could also borrow something from me if you had to." Cameron took my bag and put it in the storage compartment, making sure it was secure. I nodded in reply and got on after him, wrapping my arms around his waist and resting my head on his shoulder.

I would be seeing his home today, and we're having dinner together, I'm meeting his parents. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

~~~
"Ready to go in Butterscotch?" Cameron held my hand, my bag on his shoulder. I nodded and he put the key in the front door, unlocking it. He retracted the key and opened the door for me, letting me go in first. Nervously I stepped in and stood to the side, looking around. We were in a mudroom, but it was perfectly organized. "You can take your shoes off." He said, shutting the door behind himself as he got in and kicked off his shoes, tucking them in the corner. I kicked mine off and set them down next to his, gulping nervously.
"Cameron is that you?" I heard a female voice call out.
"Yeah, mum!" He calls back. "Italy is with me." He glances at me and notices my nervousness. "Don't worry, she's going to love you. Just be yourself." Cameron whispers to me, kissing the tip of my nose before leading me out of the mudroom and into a living room. I could see to the kitchen, where there was a gorgeous woman cooking at the stove. She looked up and smiled brightly, wiping her hands on a towel and coming over.
"Hi, Mrs. Thorn." I hold my hand out. She pulls me into a hug instead, wrapping her arms around me.
"You can call me Jillian." She pulls away from me, holding my face gently between her hands. "Aren't you just a beauty, Cameron was right about you. You're absolutely stunning." I blushed and muttered a thank you. "I hope you like ravioli. I'm cooking it fresh."
"That sounds amazing. Is there anything I can do to help?" I offer, clasping my hands behind my back.
"Oh no honey, just go have fun with Cameron, I'll let you two know when it's ready." Jillian smiled and went back to her kitchen, long red hair bouncing behind her.
Cameron took my hand and led me to his room, opening the door for me. I giggled and stepped in, looking around at what his room looked like. He had a big bed, multiple instruments strewn around, a basketball, a few band posters, and some of the usual furniture. Cameron set my bag down and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. In another universe, this could be considered moving fast. Meeting each other's parents almost immediately in the relationship, sleeping in the same room, heck the same bed, kissing with an unknown love. But I wouldn't change anything.
Cameron led us to his bed and gently laid us down so that we were cuddling. He was on his back with an arm around me, I was on my side with my head on his chest and one of my legs in between his, an arm on his chest. I could feel his heartbeat and his fingers tracing patterns on my shoulder soothingly.
We stayed in that comfortable silence for a little while. We were comfortable in the silence between us, just basking in each others company. After a little while, Cameron offered to play me the guitar, just strumming a song quietly while I sang along. This is how I always imagined it would be with my soulmate. Just pure happiness, even in the simplest of times.
Eventually, his other mom came home and dinner was ready. We gathered at their dinner table, beautiful smells coming from the pasta dish that was at the center of the table.
Just like I had a family of three with two dads, Cameron had a family of three with two moms. We were so similar, yet opposite.
"So Italy, what do you like to do?" Jillian asked.
"Well, I like to read and write, but I also love dancing and going on walks with my dog Kineti." I smile, taking a bite of the dinner.
"How old are you again?" Millie, Cameron's other mom asked.
"Sixteen..." I say quietly. She sighed and shook her head, but I could see Jillian nudge her under the table. I already knew what she was thinking. I'm two years younger than her son, and we're matched at such a young age. She's thinking of what could happen if we fight, or if something else went wrong between the two of us.
Cameron took my hand under the table and stroked his thumb against the back of it, seeming to understand that I was getting in my own head and getting upset. I weakly smiled at him, silently thanking him for the kind gesture.
The rest of dinner was relatively quiet, just small talk to avoid another confrontation. Should I ask someone to pick me up? I don't think Millie likes me very much. I don't know if I feel comfortable staying overnight in her home if she doesn't like me. Is it even legal to not like your child's soulmate? I mean, it's not like she really has a choice in the matter, right?
~~~

"Okay, well Millie and I are going to head out, we have a girls weekend planned with some of our friends and we're heading up to a spa retreat. Cameron, we'll be home in a few days, call us if you need us. Italy, it was great meeting you. You're welcome in our home anytime." Jillian smiles, speaking as she was finishing up washing the dishes. Millie silently nodded and gave me a tight smile.

Thank god they were leaving tonight. I don't think I could handle it if they stayed.
