December 22nd
"I'll just have a glass of water with lemon please." I look up at the waiter, who nods and writes it down in his little notebook before turning to Cameron to take his order.
"And I'll have a glass of Pinot Grigio." Cameron smiles, pulling out his license to show that he was legally old enough to drink. The waiter nods again and writes it down before leaving to go get our drinks. "Just water Butterscotch? You can have anything you want, you know that right?" Cameron looks at me, a crooked grin on his face. His green eyes sparkle with admiration.
"I know, I'm just trying to be a little healthier, that's all," I respond with a shrug, glancing down at my stomach.
Cameron took the two of us out for a little bit of a fancy dinner, for no reason. He just said that he wanted to treat me to a nice meal out. I don't know why he does this, he knows I would be just as happy with a pizza that we made ourselves, in fact, he knows I would prefer that. I like spending time in the kitchen, cooking with the love of my life.
"Are you going on a diet? Baby, you don't need to. You're perfect just the way you are, you don't need to lose weight. You don't need to change at all." He grabs my hand, squeezing it gently.
"No it's not a diet, more of just a cleanse. I'm trying to eat healthier for about nine months, just to see if I can and such." I drop a little hint to see if he'll get it, but Cameron being Cameron, doesn't get it.
"Okay, just promise that you're not doing a diet? I don't want to see you change, you're perfect to me." He insists, eyes gazing deeply into mine
"I promise it's not a diet," I assure him, giggling at the way he was reacting. I'm glad he loves my body for the way it is, even if I don't sometimes.
"How about I do the cleanse with you? Except for my drink of course." He chuckles. I nod and smile. If I have to go through being a better person for my baby, why not Cameron too, after all, he is the father. "Actually, starting tomorrow. I know what I want to eat and it's not necessarily the most healthy option on the menu."
The waiter sets down our drinks in front of us and takes our orders. Cameron orders a steak with sweet potato mash, and I just order a salad with a seafood soup. I only ordered the soup because Cam sent me a look when all I ordered was a salad. So I ordered it to make him happy. I guess he was really set on not wanting me to lose weight. In the long run, I'm actually going to be gaining weight.
After we ate, Cameron insisted on ordering dessert, no matter how many times I told him I was full. He finally gave in when I pouted, batting my eyelashes. I giggled and stole a bite of his dessert anyways once it got to our table, causing him to roll his eyes at me.
"You didn't want dessert, yet you're taking some of mine." He laughs.
"It was only a bite, I think you'll live. I'll have some fruit when we get back to your house, okay?" I promised him, making him smile. He agreed and took a sip of his wine, offering me a sip. I decline, which confused him. He looks at me, one eyebrow raised. I was always so confused as to how he was able to raise just one eyebrow.
"You always take a sip of my wine when I get some. You sure you're okay?"
"I promise, I'm fine. I just don't want any. No alcohol on my cleanse." I tell him.
"Not even New Years? That's less than two weeks away Butterscotch. You have to at least have some for then," I shake my head.
"Not even for New Years. I'll have some sparkling juice, but no alcohol." I give him a stern look. He holds his hands up in surrender, not wanting to start a fight between the two of us. Cameron knew that I was a stubborn girl, and knew not to push me when I was set in a decision.
