"So you haven't heard from De in two days?" Storm's best friend, Lola, asked as they sat at Batter & Berries. Storm shook her head as she sipped on her water. D'Angelo hadn't said a damn thing to her since he kicked her out & she didn't care to try to talk to him. Malik was coming home & she was happy, and she didn't want anything to ruin it. She just hoped that D'Angelo wasn't dead or anything.

"You think he's still alive?" Storm asked Lola, a little worried. Lola rolled her eyes.

"Girl, he been active on all social media. He's alive."

"Well, I haven't been checking his shit so," Storm said shrugging. Lola gave her a look. "I haven't!!"

"Yeah, okay," Lola said snickering. If Lola knew one thing, it was that her best friend was crazy about D'Angelo. Well, she was crazy about both of her men, but especially D'Angelo because he did a lot of illegal things, and she was worried that one day something would happen to him.

"I'm for real. I've been so happy that Malik is coming home, and as long as me & D'Angelo aren't talking, I get to spend more time with Malik," Storm said happily.

"Let me find out you're starting to lean more towards Malik," Lola teased and Storm instantly went into denial.

"No, i'm not leaning towards anybody more. It's just that I've seen D'Angelo more than i've seen Malik in the last few months and this allows us to catch up with no interruptions."

"Mhm, with 'no interruptions'," Lola said doing grinding motions & Storm laughed, throwing her napkin at Lola, who started laughing too.

"I hate you," Storm said chuckling as the waiter brought their food over to them. "Ooh yum."

"Girl you don't need any more food to go to them damn hips," Lola said as they both started eating.

"Girl, don't hate on my thickness," Storm said playfully as she motioned towards her body, sticking her tongue out.

"I'm not hating," Lola said smirking, looking her best friend up and down. Lola was a lesbian and had a girlfriend, but if she ever got the chance, she would definitely try to turn her best friend out. Storm smirked too before they both busted out laughing.

"Oh, I missed you," Storm said as she took a bite of her bacon.

"I've missed you too."

After brunch, Storm & Lola went their separate ways, planning to meet up again after Storm had her 'no interruption' time with Malik.

Storm decided to go over to her grandmother's house while she waited, as he lived on the west side & once she went to the suburbs, she wasn't coming back west. Broadview wasn't that far from the westside, but when it was traffic, it took longer. And it was a Friday afternoon, so there was definitely traffic.

Storm parked her car & got out. She looked down the block to see if D'Angelo was outside. He wasn't. She sighed & continued to make her way into her grandmother's house.

"Nana, can you make me a bologna sandwich?" Storm asked as she & her grandmother sat in the living room watching a movie. Storm loved how her Nana made sandwiches. Her grandmother playfully rolled her eyes.

"You should be making me sandwiches," Linda said playfully before she stood up.

"Thank youuuu," Storm said and her nana playfully waved her off. Storm paused the movie & grabbed her phone, seeing she had two messages.

One from Malik and the other from... D'Angelo.

She clicked on Malik's first.

An hour & a half away, the text said.
