D'Angelo was finally done.
He could quit his target job and he damn sure didn't have to sell drugs anymore. He was graduating from Coyne College & becoming an electrician.
Not what he really saw himself doing in life but life never really goes as planned.
"D'Angelo Patterson." D'Angelo's mother, grandmother, cousin, Eric & Elijah cheered loudly for him as he walked across the stage. He didn't have many people there for him, but it didn't matter because they were his support system. They were there when shit got tough and when he wanted to quit, they encouraged him to keep going.
Storm was the only reason he was going to trade school in the first place so when they fell out, he was over it. But he kept going because he knew she was right when she said he couldn't sell drugs his whole life. And getting shot at a few times was kind of encouraging too.
He honestly wished Storm could be at his graduation since she was one of the people who always pushed for him to do better. But she wasn't, and D'Angelo just needed to accept the fact that they were no longer big parts in each other's lives.
D'Angelo smiled for the camera before walking off stage with his diploma. He was starting a new stage in his life and it was bittersweet.
"De you were cheesing hard as hell," Eric said, clowning D'Angelo as they got out of the car. Him, his mother, Eric & Elijah had went out to eat to Gibson's while his cousin took his grandmother home, helping her set up for his surprise graduation party.
"Nigga I can't be happy?" D'Angelo asked as they headed to the door.
"I mean you can but damn i thought your cheeks would fall off." D'Angelo rolled his eyes and unlocked the door to the building.
"Angelo, baby, grandma made some cake for you," D'Angelo's mama said & D'Angelo beamed. This whole day made him feel like a little boy again, from the gifts now to the cake, and it felt good to feel like that.
D'Angelo walked up to the first floor apartment & unlocked the door, expecting to go in, talk to his grandma & get some cake. But, what he got was a-
"SURPRISE!!" The guests yelled. There were relatives from both sides of his family, family friends, regular friends and of course, Storm & her family. Seeing Storm made D'Angelo smile as hard as he did when he was walking across the stage.
However, getting to Storm was a very difficult thing to do. Everybody kept coming up to him, and she never did, so he was stuck mingling with all his guests. He didn't wanna be rude so Storm would have to wait.
Two hours after he had arrived to his party, his social meter had ran out so he dipped out to do what he always did.
Smoke a blunt.
He sat in his living room, quiet (other than the noise from the party below) and faced a wood. He probably would have to stop smoking soon, especially if he joined a union, but until then, he would keep puffing.
There was a knock at his front door & he sighed, hoping whoever it was wouldn't be smart enough to turn the knob since he hadn't locked the door. He heard the front door open and closed and facepalmed. He knew he should've locked it.
"I knew you would be up here," A familiar voice said & D'Angelo looked up to see Storm walking his way.
