~Had to edit the title because I messed up😅It's here now though❤️🌻~

It was silent in the damp basement like room as I mulled over what she had said.

'Not Hogarth.' I thought. Not the werewolf who had loyally protected me that day at our delivery car. Not him. It couldn't be him

My eyes looked to Layla who looked to be in deep thought as well. She looked at me and then sighed." They can't be trusted. Not a single one." Layla spat miserably. At that moment I felt like a horrible friend.

I had known she wasn't anywhere to be found, but I chose to say nothing instead asking about her. It had only been two and a half weeks but I was still stricken with guilt.

"Has he hurt you?" I asked quietly. Luckily I received a small shake of her head. I sighed and stood.

'Keep your head. Lord knows what'll happen if you allow yourself into hysterics.' I thought to myself. I knew I was hardly speaking to my dear blonde haired friend but I was trying to grasp on to the situation at hand.

Finally I stopped and looked at her. Alex would notice I was gone, and perhaps even King Beau would too. I was worried but it was slightly wavered by a nagging voice in the back of my head telling me 'King Beau would be here soon.' I walked over to her and then held out my hands she gladly took. Just as I was about to say something I froze at the sound of heavy footsteps above our heads. Layla looked at me and then hovered a dirty finger close to her lips. Nodding ,understanding what she was saying I grabbed her hand and clutched it.

A voice finally spoke after long silence,"Is he searching?—Good— No they haven't arrived yet.—Sir the wolf's bane will ware off soon.—The boy is working a late shift. Shall I proceed anyway?—Yes Sir." The voice finished, throughout the conversation I had realized it was Asthenias. I glanced at Layla with a deep frown.

What was that call about? What exactly would Asthenias be proceeding with? Who was he taking orders from.

"Vanessa!" He called and then there were more thundering footsteps.

It grew silent again and then I finally spoke," Do you know what that was about?" I asked as I glanced around.

"No." She paused." Mira I'm scared. They keep talking all this stuff about war and Hogarth...he keeps talking about forcing 'the bond' onto me. Shit I don't even know what that means!" She shrieked at the end. Layla had tears in her eyes as we stood there.

'Don't cry.' I thought as a tear fell from her eye.

"Don't cry Mira! Look what you've done you made me cry too!" Layla yapped and sniffled. I didn't realize so I touched my face and sure enough it was wet and I was afraid.

"This is too much. This is too fast." I said and then sat on the floor whimpering and crying.

'So much for not letting them win.' There was the voice again. It wasn't Layla's

"Why is all this happening? So quickly I didn't ask for this!" I yelled in tears. At that moment I wasn't sure which I preferred. Being simply a slave or being a captive as apart some elaborate scheme I had no idea of. Layla rubbed my back. She told me it would be okay and I again felt like a bad friend. She was afraid also and here I sat crying like a baby because of  two weeks that weren't even that terrible.

'You forget you have been KIDNAPPED.' That voice yelled at me,scaring me from my self pitying thoughts and worry for my friend.

What was this voice? I felt crazy trying to figure it out, worried even. Was I going crazy?

Suddenly a loud creaking sound could be heard as a door not far from the two of us creaked open. I looked up and a smug Asthenias walked in. Wasn't he the Beta? What gave him time to kidnap former slaves and be an accomplice to kidnapping their bestfriends?

I stared at him meaningfully, not paying attention to the brunette woman that trailed behind him. She spoke in Spanish to Asthenias, little did she know that I knew of the language well,my late grandmother having taught me since from the time I could talk to her death. They didn't say much, but I felt like I had an advantage.

"How long do you think we have?" Asked the women. Asthenias shrugged and grabbed my shackles.

"I don't know but I'll be getting started now. Go make sure the kid is sitting in the living room. He has to be for this to work." Asthenias instructed and then pulled me over to a dark part of the basement. "Oh! And don't forget to mask our scent."

I stared at the women and she caught my eye. She smirked slightly and I felt this overwhelming need to attack her.  The voice in my head encouraged me cheerfully as she walked away.

Fear caused my body to shake as I was tossed roughly to the floor. Something sharp pierced m skin and I lifted my hand to see red liquid flowing from my hand. I grimaced and looked up at Asthenias.

"Ya' know," He started, walking across the room and touching a long whip, dragging his hand across a long line of them. Smirking he shifted his attention to another shelf with an assortment of sharp objects on it." He's been looking for you, for years now. Wouldn't be a moment he didn't think of you. I could tell because he always had that far off look in his eyes." Asthenias took one of the sharp objects down and ran i across his skin. I was once again reminded of the werewolves super human abilities to fastly heal as his hand shortly bled before sealing up. It was clean and unbothered as if he hadn't just cut himself.

The sound of muffled cries could be heard just a short distance from me ,but I didn't dare turn my head to look at my friend. He maneuvered his way around a chair with sharp objects sticking from it. "He is an impartial King. A good one. Your people may not like him or what he has done, but he has done a more than excellent job in leading our people into prosperity." Asthenias spoke over the loud cries of pain coming from behind me.

For a few moments he stared behind me, fear ripping my insides to shreds. He watched with almost a satisfied look in his eyes as whatever happened to Layla continued. As he was not looking I allowed my hand to slide around to see if I could find something that could harm him.Slowly, he tore his eyes away and looked at me. I gripped the handle of something and pulled it close to my body.

"Do you hear that?" He questioned, coming back around the chair and kneeling in front of me. There was a sadistic smile on his face that brought tears to swell in my eyes. "That's the first cry of many to come soon Luna Mira." He said and I narrowed my teary eyes.

'Attack. Protect your citizen and tear his ass a new one.' The voice in my head goaded and I gritted my teeth. His smile did not waver, actually turning to a smirk. 'Attack! Do it now!' The voice shrieked.

"She might be the first to feel pain, but you my precious Queen." Asthenias softly mumbled, caressing my cheek with the sharp blade of a knife. "You will be the first to die." He growled.

Before he did anything I surprised myself and lunged forward. The knife fell from his grip as I fell on top of his chest and I plunged the item into his right shoulder. There was a sizzling sound, like it had been hot and was burning him. Silver.

Asthenias let out a sharp cry of pain, flinging me across the room and into the wall. Pain flooded through my body and I felt the breathe being knocked out of me. "Asthenias! We have to go!" A voice called as I tried to keep conscious." Hurry up! I've already casted the spell!" The voice said, I felt myself losing conscious.

Before I completely subcommed to darkness I heard a voice say,"You've made it worse now."
