"Mum, why are we visiting dad? Isn't he busy at work?" The squeaky voice of a young, red-headed girl questioned as she held her mother and sisters hand.
They were swinging her through the air and lifting her up over some of the puddles, sprinkling the walk to the hospital with her bouts of laughter. Her mother looked down at her two daughters, who despite their hair and age were almost identical twins. It would always be a surprise to see the two of them smiling.
"Tanya, don't you remember?" The young girl, who seemed to in her mid teens, with blue hair shook her head at her sister. "Dad said it was bring your kids to work day."
"Yeah, I know that!" The red head frowned. "But if it's bring your kids to work day, then shouldn't have dad brought us to work himself?"
"Is there a problem with me taking you, Tanya?" The mother teased, lightly flicking her daughters head with a chuckle. "Your father had more... mature duties this morning, so we decided it would be better to take you in after his lunch break."
"Oh, okay!" Tanya brightly hummed but her sudden realisation of the obvious only earned her an eye roll from her older sister. "Hey! I saw that!"
"You know what I saw?" A young Kyoura peered at her sister.
"What?" Tanya's eyes widened as her curiosity and intrigue sky rocketed above her height.
"A girl, who is already twelve, still having her mum and sister carry her around like she's a five year old." Kyoura stuck out her tongue and released her grip on Tanya's hand.
The utter betrayal on Tanya's face was priceless as her body suddenly plummeted to the ground, her bright pink ballet slippers landing into a shallow puddle. But not just any shallow puddle, a muddy one. The dirty water bathed her shoe before forming an ocean inside and underneath Tanya's socks. The squelch sound caused even Kyoura to cringe amidst her bout of laughter.
"HEY!!!" The younger of the two sisters screamed, and as her face scrunched up into anger—eliciting more laughter out of Kyoura—she kicked her foot, splashing the muddy water all over her older sister's skirt.
"Girls, is this really necessary?" Their mother frowned, but a hint of a smile lingered on their lips.
Kyoura was right to bring up Tanya's excessive child-like desires, and while all she wanted for her two beautiful daughters was to be happy, sometimes the physical strain was becoming a little much. Unfortunately, her voice went unheard as the two girls were busy in a stare down of their own world. Knowing that their battle of will could last an eternity, and with no desire to be late, she walked over and smacked the two atop their heads.
"We don't have time for such nonsense," she scolded them. "I don't know where you two get it from."
"Probably from dad," said Kyoura without much thought before grabbing her sister's hand with a smirk and dragging her in the direction of the hospital.
As the two girls were told, their father was waiting in the hospital's main foyer for them. Tanya was first to run up to embrace the man, of course not without squealing first. Kyoura walked up afterwards, and rather than giving her old man a hug they fist-bumped. However, unlike usual, where that would be the end of it, her dad scooped her up in his arms, lifting the teen high into the air.
