The uniform was a little scratchy, but it wasn't anything to be bothered about, her skin was just a little sensitive. Nothing a fabric softener couldn't fix. Her red hair trailed down her back like a whip of fire, it didn't quite match the coloured tie she was expected to wear, but it definitely brought the outfit together. In her opinion at least. She just hoped that people would be too distracted by her hair to notice her eyes.
"Hey mum!" The red headed girl called out from her bedroom on the upper floor. "I want your opinion!"
"I can't give it to you downstairs?" She heard the sarcastic response from her mother, although it didn't carry up the stair case.
Instead, her mother walked into her room, carrying a basket of freshly washed clothes. The two of them shared the same colour hair, though the older woman's was much shorter and styled differently.
"Does the hair look all right?" The younger girl asked, flicking the back end of her hair back and forth with a swinging motion of her head.
"Well, it's tidy that's for sure," her mother smiled and gave her child a nod of approval. "Although, don't you think you should wear it differently?" The woman raised one of her arched brows which emphasised her glowing green eyes as she looked over her daughter.
"That's why I'm asking you." The girl in question scooped two handfuls of her hair and lifted it to the side of her head, an imitation of pigtails, before throwing it back into a mock ponytail to test out another look.
"Just change it up here and there, and I'd be more than happy to style it for you," her mother smiled again.
She had walked over to the mirror as well and stood behind her daughter. With delicate fingers she ran them through the younger girl's hair, tugging on the tangles that had already formed—despite how pristine and straight it appeared.
"Ow! Watch it-" She jumped back, and glared at her mother with a faint hiss. It only caused the two to laugh.
"You better watch the time Kazuno, otherwise you'll be late for your first day." Her mother warned her, and with the swiftest if movements she collected her daughters backpack in her arms and pushed the girl towards the stair case.
"I can't just visit Aunt Kyoura?" The girl, Kazuno, pouted and lifted both her hands to bring them together.
"It's rude to turn up uninvited," she tsked and with a little nudge she eventually managed to force the girl out the front door.
"Do you think she'll be my teacher?" Kazuno asked hopefully, wedging her foot between the door and it's frame to get one last word in.
"Absolutely not," her mother laughed, and with one final push the door was closed and she was free. Finally free.
The U.A. campus was only a three minute walk for Kazuno's house but it was a boring one regardless. Most other students had to catch public transport and so her voyage was a lonely journey, though she'd soon learn to appreciate the silence.
Nothing had been more shocking than learning that the prestigious school had accepted her. She wasn't in the hero course, and that was a little bit of a disappointment but she couldn't have done any better or worse in practical test. Her mother had told her that the school's enrolment and class selection system was quite off, although the older women had never been to U.A. It was Kazuno's aunt that was the lucky of the two sister's to attend, but everyone was shocked to learn that the quiet Kyoura Majime was placed in the hero course.
"I've never seen her on the news though..." Kazuno mused as she continued on her light walk.
Most U.A. graduates became well-known figures but according to her mother, not long after her aunt had graduated she was whisked away and never to be heard of again. Until a few years ago, that is, and now the coolest (only) aunt ever was living in the same house as them. But, as of her aunts new job, she had moved closer to the campus. Maybe it was for convenience but Kazuno had the suspicion it was because as a teacher she couldn't be seen spending too much time, and living in the same building as, one of the many students. With their vibrant hair and eyes, they were sure to stand out.
