Winter Break

Winter break had come around, can't believe it has been three months since I started college...since I met Denny, but would not change a thing. Classes had been going great, passed every assessment. As for Denny and I...I was more confused than ever...more confused with every passing day to be honest. One minute he is all over me, the next he is pulling away from me. I guess that is Denny for you. Anyway back to where I was, Winter break. While everyone was home or vacationing with family over the festive period I was home alone. You see my parents don't do festive, this time every year they go on for vacation to some hot country for the full festive period, not even thinking about inviting me but that was nothing unusual. I usually tend to spend this time with Chloe and her family, this year though they were out of town at her grandparents because sadly it is possible this will be the last Christmas her grandmother will see. Chloe felt terrible leaving me alone but I understood. My plans for the winter break? Eat junk food, watch rubbish movies, binge on Netflix and whatever else I can do to occupy myself. I was currently sitting on my sofa in sweats, wrapped in a blanket with a huge bowl of popcorn watching Elf. Yes I said Elf that movie is awesome and funny...I am still a child at heart. All of a sudden there was a knock at my front door. It was properly a neighbour or something. I groaned, standing up, keeping my blanket tightly wrapped around me, making my way to the door. I properly looked a mess...oh well. I slapped a fake smile on my face, opening the door and standing there was the last person I expected to see this soon.

"Denny what you doing here? How do you even know where I live? Are you stalking me?" I said raising my brow at the last part, making him chuckle

"You wish I was stalking you. Did you really think I would let you spent the holidays alone? Why didn't you tell me your parents fuck off and leave you at this time every year?" he said, sounding annoyed at the last part

How does he even know that?

"How do you even know I am here alone?" I asked confused

"Chloe got in touch with me. Riley you should have said." He said

"It is fine. It was your time to spent with your family, don't think you want little old me hanging around." I said

He shook his head, looking a little annoyed at me before walking in. Yes Denny do come in, make yourself at home I thought to myself rolling my eyes. I groaned, shutting the door behind me and followed Denny into the living room. He was standing looking around and I knew what he was thinking. He was wondering where all the photos were...where was the things that make a house a home.

"Yes my parents aint exactly the family type." I said sadly

"Riley this is bullshit. Why would they leave you alone like this?" he asked

"They do it all the time. It has always been the same...they have always been the same. They never really wanted me so they don't tend to make much of an effort." I said shrugging it off like it was the most normal thing in the world...well technically to me it is.

Denny on the other hand never seemed too pleased with the full thing.

"That is it you are coming to spend the holidays with us, my mom and April would be happy to see you again, they were asking for you. I will crash here tonight but we leave first thing tomorrow morning." Denny said making his way over to me

"What? No, I can't do that. Denny the holidays are for families, I aint getting in the way of that for you all." I said

He reached for me, pulling me close to him
