(Double post!)
After 2: Melody
For three hours, I was treated like evidence.
They took photos. They took my clothes.
As I sat in the hospital in a robe, they had to pick pieces of Melissa out of my hair.
I closed my eyes as did so I wouldn't watch.
They had to pick pieces of Melissa out of my hair.
When they were finally done and I was alone, I opened my eyes and stared at my hands. They handcuffed me to the bed and my hands were still stained.
Stained red.
Stained with blood.
No matter how many times I closed my eyes I couldn't remember what happened in that oval office. The only thing I remembered was the sound of my gun going off and Melissa falling. And I... I... couldn't remember how my hands got stained.
I turned my neck as I stared at the handcuffs. I could pick them if I wanted too. But I didn't want to.
I didn't want to.
I didn't want too.
When the door clicked open I didn't acknowledge it.
"Mel," the soft voice reached my ears. "They said you can wash your hands now.
I didn't move. The voice sighed and I felt their fingers touch my wrist.
They uncuffed me and led me to the sink. The warm water made me finally look up.
Dylan gently rubbed soap on my hands.
"The toxicology came back. You weren't drugged."
That sounded wrong to me. My head hurt every time I tried to think back. Everything was blank.
"I don't.. remember anything. That's not normal."
He's drying my hands now. "You believe me don't you?" I asked him. he stopped moving and looked up at me. He looked torn.
I did that. I'm making him second guess everything.
Instead of answering, he finishes drying my hands. "My dad's coming in any second. We're going to take you to interrogation." He pulls out the handcuffs and I nod in understanding.
He placed them on gently.
When he's done, I took his hands and kissed him in the cheek, slowly. "Thank you."
When I pulled away, his eyes were watery. I almost laughed. I never thought I'd see Dylan Carter cry for me.
"You should run."
I stared at him in confusion. "Melody it looks really bad..."
I still didn't get it.
"They have you on video fighting with Melissa before you went into the office, you had the weapon that shot her, we all know the tension between you and Melissa... they're saying since she tried to keep you and Jasper separated."
"I'm not running," I told him just as the door opened again. I turned and saw Agent Carter, looking just as solemn than his son. "I didn't do it," I told them both. They speak anymore. Agent Carter took my arm and we walked out of the room.
"I'm not running."
