After 7: Jasper
I've seen Melody fight a thousand times: at the White House, at Homecoming, in training. But since we've been avoid each other the last few months, it's been awhile since I've seen her in action. Every situation was different. This reminded me of the first time I saw the students of Reyna's in action. They moved quick, like water, and in unison. Always together. Always a step a head.
Any mistake led to your death.
When Dylan reached for her, he didn't expect her to counterattack in her condition. I didn't except her to be able to move.
But she blocked his right hand with her left at the same time as she turned around, grabbing the same arm with hers. Then she was in the air in a blink of an eye, locking her legs around his waist from behind her. She pulled him over with her until he was falling. When her back hit the ground, she rolled until Dylan was on the ground and she was standing up straight, holding his leg.
"Don't make me hurt you," Melody threatened and when Dylan moved, Melody twisted his leg, hard.
Dylan groaned in pain as Riley stumbled to his feet.
"Wait, Melody! Stop!"
Dylan went to kick Melody with his left leg, but Riley was between them, pushing his leg away and dropping in front of Dylan. He straddled him, pressing his arm against Dylan's neck.
"Stop fighting," Riley ordered, which only made Dylan struggle harder under him. He couldn't speak though. "And Melody stop playing dirty."
Melody looked at Riley with wide eyes. "He smashed you against a table!" Her moment of distraction cost her, as Dylan threw his leg in the air again, this time hitting it against Melody's wounded side. She fell to her side, holding back a scream.
He brought his arm against Riley's throat too.
"Damn... it," Riley chocked out.
Alright Jasper, stop standing around.
I stumbled to my feet as quickly as I could, running to the hallway. Without a second hesitation, I kicked Dylan in the face. Hard.
He let go of Riley and went still.
"That's for punching me in the face!" He couldn't hear me but it made me feel better.
While Riley tried to get his breathing in control, I went over to check on Mel. She spoke between her teeth.
"I... don't... think... it... broke." I pulled her shirt and luckily, she wasn't bleeding. "Just..ice."
I nodded and ran to the kitchen, getting an ice pack. I started to close the freezer when I remembered my bleeding face and Rileys. I grabbed two more. When I came back, Riley was sitting Dylan on a chair. I sat beside her and placed the ice pack over her bandage. Then I grabbed her hand and placed it there gently.
