Dear Impa and Paya,

I'm sending this on my way to you. My clutches are not safe for Arthur. I realized that now. I'm entrusting you with my son as opposed to my first plan in sending him over multiple villages. It's just not going to work that way. So I have to ask that you take this letter as my last for a while. I'll tell you everything you have to know on the next page. It should be in the letter you are to give to him on his seventeenth.

Love,
Link

Impa flipped the note and read aloud as Paya sat on the cushion patiently.

Dear Milo,

My son. We had to protect you. Atta and I loved you, we wanted to keep you but something terrible got in the way.

Everyone thinks you are dead. In a way you are to the public eye. Your real name is Arthur. We had to lie of your name so no one would hurt you. Two kinds of people may be out for you, either the Yiga Clan or the Gorons. That is because they wish to have revenge on me, so I had to send you off to protect you.

When I saw you last you found your way to my house. The spear you're to be given belonged to a former lover of mine, now dead. But this spear chose you. I saw you sleep in front of it and knew you've been chosen by her. I pray to the goddesses Lady Mipha watches and protects you like she had me.

You need to know that you are the heir to Hyrule. This is why you've been kept with Impa and Paya. The elder of the two raised your mother to her wisdom and I knew here you'd be best off. Even if you weren't permitted to leave this village, I know you long to adventure. I had once too been like you, but because of my feelings guidance you were kept here. So I beg that if I do not arrive three days after you earn this letter that you assume I've died and seek out King Sidon.

As I write this, you and I are camping for the night. After you slept by the fire I wrote this. But it's paining me to do so. Watching you sleep this way... So innocent and silent and knowing I won't watch you grow with each day will deteriorate me from the inside out... But I cannot live on knowing you were killed to drive me mad. Rather I'd keep you safe till I can return.

Together we shall rebuild this kingdom.

Your father,
Link

Days passed after the letter. Impa sat on her porch each day awaiting the royal escort. Each time she thought she heard a horse trotting, being proven wrong. She would each time sigh and sip her tea. Years later, and she still played her motherly role. First to Zelda, then to her own daughter, partially to Link, and now to Arthur.
She wouldn't live forever. Leaving Paya as chief and mother to Arthur. Or Milo rather. She would have to call him that forever now wouldn't she? Or at least for fifteen more years. These rules were so much to remember. But she could always reread the letter. No matter. There was more to be focused on for now.

Trotting came fast from quiet to loud. This was no ones imagination this time as rain seemed to come with the cloaked horseman. He carried something with him, a spear clung to his back. As he ran up to the home of Impa, two guards blocked him. But despite those tear stained cheeks and red eyes. The blue orbs met the two gentle men. Then they realised who he was, and wordlessly he was let upstairs to Impa's porch.

From the market place, Paya saw a hooded figure release a small boy from his arms. He landed on his chubby feet curiously looking up at the hooded man. From Impa's saddened view, he was smiling falsely.
The cloaked man leaned in, kissed the small boy on the head and gave one more hug to him before vanishing in streamers of glowing blue. Leaving a young boy in fear before he screamed. The sound being drowned by the rain.

This was the first and last time that Arthur got to call Link Daddy.
