One Last Gift

These cherished moments spent with you
I hold them dearly to my heart
They hold me together like glue
Every time I'm falling apart

I hope these memories don't fade
I keep them close so they won't, too
That way I'll never have to bade
Them goodbye, as I did to you

My dear, I already miss it
Our steps in sync, your hand in mine
Even when your health told you to quit
You still struggled to keep the time

You fought it for so long, my love
Never gave up a single fight
But then you were called from above
That's when you spread your wings in flight

I laid your hand down on the bed
To make way for your precious wings
I said goodbye and kissed your head
As tears fell on your wedding ring

As I stand here in front of you
The tears are streaming down my face
I loved you, dear, more than you knew
With all of your beauty and grace

I have one last gift to give you
Before the church door closes
Like you, they are beautiful, too
My gift is a bouquet of roses
