The household was busy the next day, preparing for her wedding and no one paid her no mind which Sam Jang appreciated. The wedding preparation was rushed; all her maids were summoned by the kitchen staff from the other household.
Sam Jang used the chance to send out a letter to Son Wu Kong asking him to meet her by the river in a forest under the moonlight. They cannot meet at day time, afraid that they would be seen.
When she was certain that everyone fell asleep, she crept out of her quarters and ran straight to the forest where Wu Kong and her would usually meet. It was quite a walk so she ran to get there. She had missed Wu Kong so much that she wanted to see him
She arrived there and to her pleasant surprise Wu Kong was already there. When he turned around, the light shown on his face making him look so handsome
"Wu Kong ah!" she ran to him and immediately he opened his arms for her, hugging her tightly. It suddenly became a trigger for her, all the things that had happened in the past few days and how much she had missed him , it all came down to her. Sam Jang started sobbing hysterically.
Wu Kong did not say anything and just held her tightly soothing her back. When she had finally relaxed she looked at him and for the first time, Son Wu Kong saw the cut on her lip.
"Who did that to you?" venom was evident in his voice. He caressed her lip and she smiled at him to reassure her that she was okay.
But he was not having it, "Sam Jang, who did that to you?"
Sam Jang looked down and whispered, "Abeoji."
Wu Kong's gasped lightly, "Your father? He did this to you?"
Her heart broke upon remembering the night he had laid a hand on her. Her father had always been a loving noble man but somehow along the way, he had changed drastically.
"Are you alright?" he lifted her chin up.
Sam Jang smiled but it did not reach her eyes, "This wound is not as painful as the thought of own father hurting me. I could withstand the pain, Wu Kong. If only physical, I definitely could but seeing as my father was-"
She could not continue as tears began welling up again, she looked up at Wu Kong, "Wu Kong ah, I have lost my father last night. I do not know him anymore"
Wu Kong's heart broke at the sight of her, she had always spoken highly of her father and he would be lying if he did not say that he now detested the master he serves.
How can anyone hit their own child? How can anyone hurt Sam Jang?
"Hush now, Sam Jang. I am right here. I am not going anywhere." Wu Kong reassured her trying to calm her down.
Sam Jang looked at him, her eyes were nearly swollen from all the crying, "Wu Kong ah, the marriage is moved in two days!"
Wu Kong froze, he could not believe that the marriage will be happening that fast. Her father must be desperate to marry her off already, all the more reasons for Wu Kong to detest Sam Jang's father. He will not allow for anyone to get Sam Jang and if she were to be married to anyone, it ought to be him. Wu Kong was ready to face everything in order for him and Sam Jang to be together.
He grabbed both her shoulders and looked at her square in the eyes, "Let's do it. Let us run away tomorrow night. We should meet here tomorrow at the same time. I'll have a boat ready for us and we could go far away. Away from your family, away from here-
Wu Kong paused as he looked at Sam Jang with determination, "A new life. Just the two of us."
Her heart got filled with joy as she listened to her lover, this was the man she was going to spend the rest of days with, the man she was willing to give up everything for.
