Cloud Strife's POV
It had been only a few years after I saved my home planet Gaia from the evil Sephiroth and his corporation known as SOLDIER, leaving me permanently scarred with the Mako Energy's glow in my eyes and the memories of my dear friend Zack Fair. One day, I had received a note from the Master Hand, a strange being from the cosmos, to head over to the Smash Mansion and meet with all sorts of fighters there. I knew that I may not come back to my friends, including my love interest and childhood friend Tifa Lockheart.
But, the note told me not to worry because he'll take good care of them for as long as I'm here with the other fighters, and he's also brought in a stage that'll be familiar to Midgar. I may get homesick, but it's probably my loss. I might find other things to keep me worried about my heart's place. So I took my motorcycle, the Fenrir, grabbed my Buster Sword, and rode off to my destination. When I got to the Smash Mansion, I noticed it was humongous, considering there was room for about 60 fighters here. There were many strangers with faces I don't even remember even from my recovery of amnesia. I saw they were all looking at me with a face that had shown I'm welcome here. I saw strange, round creatures flying through the air and passing parchments of paper, animals and strange monsters planning some sort of party inside, and tall yet stout figures fixing up the mansion a bit. All I had to do was sign up to be an official part of the Smash Bros. Group, or whatever they called it, and I'm in. Little did I know that there was one life-changing moment that day, and it all happened when I met up with HIM.
Link's POV
Almost 20 years I've been here, and we've always been setting up parties for newcomers and returning fighters. I no longer worried about Hyrule, for I knew that Zelda and Ganondorf would be here. I tried to hook up with the princess, but for reasons unknown, she rejects me and only treats me as a friend. But I never let that get the best of me, and I helped around with the fighters putting up decorations. The work was hard, but I was damn glad I was here.
Mario, an old friend of mine, stopped me for a while and said to me, "Don't worry, Link-a. I think-a we all got this-a. Why don't you sit down and take a break-a?"
"Sure thing," I answered. I took a seat on a bench and relaxed myself, but all of a sudden, one of the parchments flew in my face. When I took it off, I saw a blocky character with spiky blond hair, bright blue eyes, and a mercenary uniform, and the paper read: Welcome, Cloud Strife - December 15, 2015. Just then, after I took a look at the paper, I heard a voice.
Cloud Strife's POV
I saw some sort of paper fly into the man's face, and I walked over there to ask if he was okay before I look for a place to sign up. When I noticed the man got the paper, I then asked, "Excuse me, but do you know where I can sign in?"
That was when I saw HIM - deep blue eyes, semi-dark blond hair, a green tunic and hat with chainmail and arm garments. When I took a look at his belt, I noticed he was a single, left-handed swordsman who used his shield on his right. His face looked beautiful, especially for a guy. I figured I tell him his name first, so I said, "My name's Cloud Strife, and I just received a letter to head on over to you guys."
Link's POV
I noticed the person we wanted to get into the Smash Mansion looked a lot different than from how we remembered him. He looked handsome, his face was so detailed, and his large, thick sword looked like it would really slice through just about anything minus the recovery.
He sure looks handsome, I thought. I feel like we might be good friends as long as things work according to plan.
When I suddenly remembered that he was asking for where to sign in, I answered, "Uh, yes. I know who you are, Cloud. The signup is just down the main hall. You can't miss it."
"Thanks," Cloud said before he walked off.
So dreamy... I thought. I never even knew he looked like that in real life.
Cloud Strife's POV
After signing up for the Smash Mansion, I met up with the green-clothed stranger again. "Oh, I'm so sorry," the elf-like man stammered. "My name's Link, and thank you for signing up and becoming an official member of the Smash Bros. Group."
"Link, huh?" I asked. That name was rather peculiar for a brave warrior, but I guess Cloud was a bit weird too.
"Sorry if I haven't asked before," Link then said, "but I just want to show you to your room. I can hep train you and get in touch with this place. I'm a veteran here, so I can show you how we do stuff around here."
"That's fine," I answered. "By the way, where's my room?"
"Since we're going to be roommates," Link replied, "I feel like I can tell you parts of my story and you can tell parts of yours."
"Sounds great," I said. "Since it's getting dark, I feel like we should get ready for bed. It took a long time to get here, and I could really be your partner in these fights. What are we fighting for? Money? Glory?"
"Mostly just for the boss's entertainment," Link resounded. "Anyway, let's head to our room."
As we walked off, I took a brief thought and look at Link - thinking, He sure looks feminine for a humanoid.
Link's POV
We got into our rooms, and we both felt rather sleepy. When we got dressed in our pajamas, we walked over to the only single twin bed in the room.
"Sorry that I often don't get visitors," I told Cloud.
"That's alright, elf," he said.
"Hylian," I yawned. "You humans should study our species further."
"Sorry," Cloud answered. "I meant Hill-lian, or High-lian, or however you pronounce it around here..."
"High-lian," I moaned, "Now, let's go to sleep. There's a big day tomorrow and I'm going to be your mentor."
Cloud Strife's POV
As I got into the sheets, I looked like the bed might be signifying something... suggestive. Getting on the right side of the bed, I saw Link reaching over to the left side to turn off the only lit lamp in the room, and I asked him, "Hey, Link? Isn't this a little awkward, sharing the same bed?"
"What?" Link sighed in question.
"Nothing," I replied. As soon as Link turned off the lamp and went to sleep, I stayed awake a little longer, thinking about how maybe this can start a new friendship.
