Cloud Strife's POV
I was sleeping in one morning, tired and carefree. I was thinking about my home planet, my friends back home, and Tifa... How I missed her... However, I wouldn't let that stop me, as I found way better things to worry about. After all, the Master Hand said through my invitation that he'll take care of all my duties while I'm gone.
Just then, I was woke up by Link shaking my body.
"Hey, Cloud! Time to get up!" he exclaimed cheerfully.
I was still rather sleepy, so I was slowly groaning, "What is it, Linkie?"
"Today's the annual Smashing Con," Link answered.
Smashing Con? I wondered. They hold conventions here as well? Let's just see how it goes...
"Smashing Con?" I asked Link.
"Every summer," he answered, "we hold a convention to invite people who are worthy of being compatible fighters, and everyone's welcome. Other than looking for newcomers, we also dress up in costumes, eat all sorts of grub off the table, dance, play minigames, and more!"
"And are the costumes optional?" I asked Link again.
"I guess so," Link answered. "Oh, and you also get the chance to see Master Hand himself! Isn't it great? I talked to him about the people being invited several times, and it's a once-in-a-year opportunity. You don't wanna miss out."
"So, let me get this straight," I asked Link, "if you head to the store and buy whatever's there to surprise me, we get to head to the con?"
Link nodded, a little smile on his face.
"Oh, and one more thing," Link said to me. "Mario told me you get drunk pretty easily, well not as much as me. But if we sit down and have some booze, promise you won't drink too much and embarrass me, okay?"
"Okay," I answered. Then, Link gave me a small kiss on the lips, walking out our room through the door.
Link's POV
A couple hours passed, and I grabbed some surprise costumes, each one in a separate bag. I walked to our room, and Cloud was waiting for me.
"Hi," Cloud said. "What took you so long?"
"Well," I answered, "they were all out of boy's costumes, and the only ones available were for the girl's. Since we both kinda look like women ourselves, I thought of buying the perfect outfits for the two of us. For you, Cloud..."
I handed Cloud the lavender bag, and in it was his costume: a purple, sleeveless dress with white gloves, purple slippers, a purple collar with a jewel at the front, a tiara, and two clip-on braids just his color.
"Link, you clearly know everytime I look at boys cross-dressing, disappointing floods of memories come back to me..." Cloud moaned.
"Well," I giggled, "you said grab whatever you want, and my friends told me the hilarious situation you were put in to be forced to wear that outfit."
"What do you know about dressing in drag?" Cloud asked me. I then grabbed my light-blue bag, pulling out what looked like a traditional Gerudo costume.
"Believe me. I've had experience," I answered. "When I wanted to tell the Gerudo chief Riju about one the Divine Beasts Naboris, I had to sneak in with this clothing, and these stores have shopping lists of memories..."
After several minutes have passed, the two of us got dressed in our costumes, and it was just enough time for the convention to start.
"Wow," Cloud said to me. "You... look... amazing. Like, that's really a traditional Gerudo outfit right there. I can hardly recognize if you're a boy or not."
