Cloud Strife's POV

It had been only a year since Link and I had been together. I didn't want to tell Tifa how long I was gone from her, so much that I eventually broke up with her. I looked at Link, thinking about the long friendship we went through, and how I wished it would last forever. I was wearing my Geostigma uniform at that time, and Link in his traditional blue clothing with right-handed weaponry, which was different according to him instead of the usual green tunic of legends.

Everyday, from my window, I saw Link chatting with a few of his friends, even mentioning me as his boyfriend. I really wanted to stay with him for the rest of my life, and I didn't care what would Tifa think. Then, taking a look at the wolf emblem on my left shoulder, I suddenly realized to do the honorable thing to a perfect guy like him.

Be his husband.

Unbuttoning the wolf emblem off my sleeve, I took a close look at it and noticed it was rusted and covered in blood stains that never wore off. I then took it to a blacksmith shop where I had it polished and presentable, stuck on a diamond-encased ring. Not giving out a surprise, I placed the now-jewelry emblem in my pocket, making sure no one sees it until the right time.

Link's POV

I was watching Cloud from afar, often making me lose my trains of thought. As I looked more and more, I thought about all the days I wanted to spend time with him. I then felt something in my new uniform - a small, red gem stuck on the back of the scabbard I had from my traditional green tunic from before. I probably figured out it was misplaced when they made my old clothing, and it was really easy to nudge off. I slipped it off with my fingers and took a close look at it and came up with what appeared to be the best plan of all in my romantic relationship.

I wanted to be with Cloud Strife for the rest of my life.

I wanted to place the small gem on a silver ring and surprise him with it at the end of the day. I knew that it was time to be at his side, no matter what. So, I headed to Princess Zelda's house for advice.

"Hey, Zelda," I asked her. "Do you have a plain silver ring I can fuse this small, red stone to?"

"Of course I do," Zelda answered. "Why's that?"

"It's about Cloud Strife," I answered. "I want to propose to him." Zelda squealed with joy when she heard my response. She then walked out the door, giving me a big hug.

"I never knew this day would come," Zelda said, tears of joy in her eyes as she handed me a plain, silver ring stuck inside her glove finger. "I feel so proud of you. The Hero of Hyrule, asking his boyfriend to be with him forever."

"Thank you so much, Zelda," I said to her. "This is going to be the best night yet." Zelda then took the gem from my hand and, with her magic, melded the two jewels together into a special ring. I bowed my head in thanks as I then took the finished ring and walked off.

Cloud Strife's POV

I was just meeting with Link at the Delfino Cafe, where many tropical drinks and exotic foods were served. He seemed pretty cheerful that night, almost as if he had something on his mind. We then sat down for a couple martinis, talking about the situations we've been through, thinking about our love and compassion. I kept staring into his deep blue eyes, not even caring if some of the other fighters were watching us in silence, giggling quietly. I didn't care if it was gay when we were together, just even thinking about it makes me love him even more. The longer I kept looking at Link, the more I began sweating in nervousness, and Link was now looking at me with a look of confusion.

Almost as if he was thinking what I was thinking.

"Do you mind... if you follow me outside?" I asked Link. The Hylian began blushing, nodding his head in agreement. We both headed outside into the dock, gazing out into the beautiful sun lowering itself into the ocean's horizon. I kept looking at Link against the red light, holding the ring case behind my back.

"...Link?" I asked him. "...There's something I have to ask you, and it's probably life-changing..."

"...What is it...?" Link asked in response, hiding something behind his back. "There's also something I wanted to tell you as well..." The two of us then started blushing harder, our cheeks blushing a lobster red. We then pulled out both the gifts we were holding behind us. Once we noticed what the two of us were holding, we started giggling as we opened the boxes, revealing our rings.

"...Oh, Cloud," Link said to me. "I did't know this is what you wanted as well..."

"...I guess it was a huge coincidence," I answered. "So, Link, Hero of Hyrule, would you do me the honor of giving me your hand in the bond of... matrimony?"

"Of course I will!" Link cried before hugging me. "I always knew this day was gonna come!" As if most of the other fighters heard the proposal between the both of us, they came out into the dock and started applauding. I and Link then slipped the rings on each other's hands, Link with his red gem ring and mine with the wolf emblem. As if no one was watching, we then smiled before kissing, happy that it was the best day of our life.
