Know
The sun shone brilliantly, the bright rays hit my face, lightening my vision.
My school, Dinesty Academy, was only a walking distance from my house.
It takes 5 minutes for me to get there using my feet.
The weather was fine, the breeze was dancing coolly; making my blonde hair swirl as it became unkempt. The clear white clouds' color changed abruptly, its' shade became much similar to a charcoal. The rain commenced to pour, and after a minute, it became heavy, making me shiver as my whole body became wet. Luckily, I saw an empty shed, I decided to seek some temporary shelter. My body felt cold. I quivered, embracing myself as I rubbed my two hands altogether, seeking for a light heat.
Things come unexpectedly, everything changes, nothing stays permanent. You'll only know what you have until it's gone. That's life, it has always been like this for me. Just because the sky looks clear, you can't assume that the weather would be fine the whole day, a storm cannot be predicted.
I suddenly felt a light leather jacket draped over my shoulder. I didn't know that someone was with me. I cocked my head to the side to see who was the good Samaritan who had the heart to lend me their jacket, I recognized the brunette guy who had a goofy composure, he had a dark brown eyes and messy hair style, his build was slim, just an average American boy.
Jeremy Sky Jansen
A guy in my class whom I rarely have interaction with. He and I were par in terms of grades and intellect.
I have a good reputation and I'm popular. Emerald Faith Evangeline, a bright student well-known for her great intellect, and that name belongs to me. Literally, she is me.
Despite my popularity and clean reputation; I was distant to everyone and I didn’t have a 'friend'—I consider everyone I know as an acquaintance. I acknowledged them but I could not call a single one as a friend. I'm contented this way since I didn’t want people to develop an attachment with people, plus I don't want people to say anything crude about me, I only choose what I show. I didn’t really care about my image. I was just not fitted to engage in deep social conversations and interaction.
"Thanks." I said, expressing my gratitude. I turned away, trying to avoid eye contact.
"You're welcome." he replied, flashing me his usual goofy smile.
After expressing my gratitude and his short respond, silence fell between us. The rain conjuring above was the only thing that occupied sound. I'm not good with talking, this is really awkward. Finally, the moments of taciturnity passed. The rain ceased, and the weather was clear.
"Would you like to walk together?" he asked, glancing at me.
I pressed my lip tightly, roaming my gaze as I fiddled my fingers together. My hesitation was pretty evident. He heaved out a sigh "It's fine if you don't wa––" he was about to take back his invitation but I managed to cut him off by replying "Sure."
He situated his hands into his pockets and I held onto my bag as he began walking, I managed to keep up with his pace since it seemed like he was doing it purposely for me to catch up.
Afterwards, we finally arrived at school, walking our way to our classroom. We are in the same class after all. The two of us were greeted with meaningful stares, it was something to predictable since an Emerald Faith Evangeline would not associate herself with anyone so easily. I scanned the room and searched for my chair. Jeremy went on the opposite direction. My eyes landed on his direction; he was greeted by his friends with a high five, which he reciprocated. He tilted his head and flashed me his goofy smile, I was surprised at first but I manage to return his smile with my most triumphant one as my lips curved into a thin line. It felt light-hearted, it's been a while since I've flashed it. I quite understand why everyone likes him, he has this certain aura that'd make you feel jubilant.
