A/N: Sorry for the long update I feel so bad about it but I've just been so busy with school and extra curriculars lately I hope you guys understand! Enjoy!
"Riles-"
I was cut off by a certain brunette throwing herself into my arms. She sobbed quietly into my chest, gripping my shirt tightly. "Hey... it's alright. I'm here." I soothed, holding her body close and whispering sweet words in her ear.
We sat there like that for a couple minutes. Or hours. I really couldn't tell, time always went by too quickly when I was with her. "It feels like I'm losing everything Maya." She sniffled, looking up at me. "First my reputation, then my education and now my best friend."
Riley paused momentarily. "Thank you for staying by my side when no one else would." Her voice was so low I barely heard it even though she was only inches away from me.
I smiled fondly at the girl in my arms and swiped my thumb against her cheek to wipe away her tears. The droplets of water deflected off my finger but continued to fall. Riley's dark coloured brown eyes twinkled in the evening sun as the water glazed them effortlessly. Her cheeks and nose were tinted pink and I was almost taken aback by the scene. She was so pretty when she cried.
"You won't lose me." I promised "Ever."
Her hand slowly maneuvered itself to where mine was rested on her waist. Gently, she intertwined our pinkies together. "Promise?" Riley's voice was shaky and full of uncertainty.
"I promise princess."

I was finishing up my algebra homework in my kitchen when the phone began to rang from the living room.
My mom picked up it, hesitating slightly when she noticed the unfamiliar caller ID.
'New York Police Department'
"Hello?" She answered the phone cautiously, looking at me to express her confusion since Shawn was away on a business trip for a couple days.
She smiled in a friendly manner even though the person on the other side of the phone couldn't see her. "I'm sorry, you must have the wrong number, we're no longer involved with Riley Matthews."
I twitched, reaching into my pocket to grab my phone. My last text was from Riley.
They're in front of my house peaches.
2:10pmI can hear them talking to my parents downstairs about something serious.
This is bad. Hurry.
2:12pmIt was nearly 4pm now and I've never felt more guilty about turning my phone on silent to do homework. Maybe it was just another hoax like last time. Where they thought they had evidence but everything was disproved.
I listened back in to the sound of panic increasingly rising in my mom's voice as she talked on the phone.
My moms expression quickly turned from confusion to anger. This can't be good. I sat in silence as my mom talked to the stranger in the phone.
"Alright."
"I understand."
"I'll let her know."
