Chapter Two: A Day of Boredom.
It has been two hours- yes, that's right, you heard me- two hours, since both mine and Mae's fathers, took our devices (A.K.A phones) in punishment since I ignored what Elise said completely, and Mae since she started this thing between us last week.
Yeah, not the best way to go.
"This is boring!" Mae whined, flopping on to her cream single bed. "I need my phone back so I can talk to Leon." Oh, right, the childhood friend.
In my defence, I think he likes her. But since he is human, he has not got a chance. Not one bit. We had seen him plenty of times, so obviously Leon is not Mae's mate. Or mine. But I don't care. He isn't my type anyways, with his spotty shirts and stripy trousers. No... Just, no...
Spots and stripes do not go together in my world.
"Quit whining. You landed yourself in this mess. You only have yourself to blame." I smirked, wandering over to her dresser. "Remember we would dress up in Elise's clothes? We could do that, but with yours." Mae shook her head, only causing to get her hair pulled out of it's bun.
"We could go for a run." Mae suggested. This time I shook my head. "Oh, right, you haven't shifted yet, have you? You late bloomer." I only growled at her comment. It was embarrassing that I am practically the only one that hasn't had their first shift.
Mae had hers a few years ago when we were celebrating someone joining the pack at a barbecue. Ugh, damn you wolf for not coming out. Damn my luck.
Like everyone else, I can mind link, hear from long distances and see from long distances. The only problem that it isn't much from a humans because my wolf hasn't come out yet. Damn you, wolf.
"So, does it like- hurt?" I asked, crossing my legs as I sat next to Mae on her bed. Mae shrugged, as if she hasn't really thought about it. Much. "Your first shift? Does it hurt?" I snapped my fingers in her face, only to get a glare in return.
"My first shift?" She asked, smiling. "It depends." I cocked an eyebrow so she continues, "If you don't expect it, yeah of course it hurts. I wrote a note everywhere in my room with the word. So when it happened, no. It didn't hurt."
I smiled as I remembered the notes that were stuck everywhere when she turned thirteen (sadly I had to help with that). There were rumours that if you expect it, it doesn't hurt. So Mae put that to the test. And no, it didn't hurt. Well, at least to her. Others, not so much.
Only God knows what mine is going to be like, and I am dreading it. Every single minute of it.
"Can I have a pen?" Mae handed me on over, narrowed her eyes in confusion. Only she would be confused. Shift. I wrote on my hand, writing on them over and over again, making the letters stand out more.
"Nice one, I wished I'd thought of that when I was writing the notes. Yours is better than wasting paper, I guess." Mae shrugged, "Now, what do you want to do?"
I smiled nicely. "How about we do some one-on-one training? Since Dad said apparently there might be another pack in for an attack, and I haven't shifted. Why not?"

"When you said train, I thought you didn't mean using knifes. Only fists." Mae murmured as I gripped onto the metal blade in my hand. "And at trees? What did they ever do to you?" Sometimes, she is such a Nature Queen.
I chuckled, before throwing my arm back and throwing it towards any tree, pretending they were rogues or other members from another pack. Might as well dream when I can, right? Right.
