Chapter Twelve: Back to school!

Today, unlike the past few days, was cold. Rain fell from the open Heaven like paint dropping onto a canvas, then coming really thick that it floods.

"You chose a real good day to go back to school, Lexi." I scowled myself, whipping the curtains back shut and throwing on a thin shirt, thick jumper, jeans and my woolly stripped socks. "Real good."

After nicking Hunters breakfast, which was his famous pancakes, I stretched my hoody over my head, throwing open the front door and diving into my Dads car that he patiently waited.

"What took you so long?" Grumbles Dad, pressing on the accelerate pedal so hard, I crashed back into my seat when I was tying my shoe laces.

"Fighting over Hunters pancakes. With Hunter." I grinned, thinking how gorgeous those pancakes are when they are covered in chocolate sauce.

If you haven't tried them, then I would suggest you try them. If not, we are not friends.

Unless you are allergic to... whatever's in them. Yeah, other than that, you have no excuse. No excuses!

After a few minutes silence, I debated myself in whether telling my Dad about that phone call last night... If I did, he would probably yell at me saying it was a stupid idea in contacting him in the first place.

Then if I don't... I don't know! Get another yelling about not telling him in the first place. Geez, I cannot win can I?

Forgetting about my thoughts, "Is Mae coming today?" I asked, sparing a glance at my father as he pulled up in front of my school: which I missed over the past few weeks.

"Yeah," Dad clears his throat. "And her mate will be attending school with you, we need someone strong and will protect both of you when needed, along with other pack members to keep an eye on you,"

"What about Kade? Isn't he coming?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. Surely he would come? He's stronger than Rufus, isn't he?

"No, he has pack business to do unlike you, I do most of it, he hasn't got anyone to help him apart from Rufus but he's not attending school," He let out a sigh, "Poor kid, missing school like this," He mutters while shaking his head. "Anyway, I'll pick you up here once school is over."

Well, I'm guessing we are going to have bodyguards since the kidnapping had happened once: and may happen again. Dad isn't taking any chances.

Nodding, I gave him a kiss on the cheek before stumbling my way to Rufus and Mae, who were waiting for me at the gates.

Mae hugged me. "I missed you!" She then pulled her hoody over her head more than I did.

I let out a chuckle, "You too, I need my partner in crime at some point otherwise I'd go mad!" I grinned at Mae before facing Rufus, who seemed engrossed by the ground beneath him.

"Hey Rufus, all good?" I cocked my head, making my hoody fall off my head and resulting my hair getting slightly damp from the now-light rain.

"Yup, let's go, I need my schedule," And with that we got his schedule from the office and Mae took him a tour around school.

Mae wasn't in at the start of English. She was too busy with trying to get Rufus to class: forgetting that she will be late to her own classes.

"Gosh, I thought you were dead," A sickly sweet voice filled my ears as I tried writing my essay on 'What's the difference between movies and books?'
