Chapter Six: Mae's map.
Mae's POV
It has been two days since the fight. The fight with the other pack that was over this land. Why would they want this land exactly? This territory wasn't special. There were just buildings around the area; there was not much of a great forest to let my wolf out.
"Mae!" My Dad called up the stairs.
I growled. I didn't want to be disturbed. No, not today.
I was going to figure out where Lexi was.
I stood up and stepped away from my bed, where a map of the areas around the Middle-of-Nowhere was. Pens marked the map, where we all checked yesterday. And even the night before.
Still, no luck.
"Mae!" Dad now growled, making his way to my room.
"Coming!" I called, shoving the maps under my pillow. I rushed over to the door, throwing it open with a very curious Dad.
His eyes were narrowed dangerously low, mouth in a thin line, arms crossed. I mimicked his actions. "I called you," Dad murmured, brushing a piece of hair behind me ear. "I thought you were... kidnapped as well."
"Dad, I won't." I soothed. "I was just about to do some work, what's wrong?" I cocked an eyebrow.
"Nothing, I was just checking if you were still here." He shrugged, kissing my forehead and leaving me. I shrugged, even though he didn't see, he shook his head as if he saw. Dads.
I grinned, shutting the door and locking it shut.
I pulled the maps out again, pressing the creases out. I scanned the map again. Something was missing. We were missing something...
Come on Lexi, give me a clue... I thought out loud. Give. Me. A. Clue.
I ran to Lexi's room, plain walls. Empty bed. It was so weird not seeing her in her room now... I walked over to her shoes, pulling out the laces out of her tacky shoes and stood over my map again.
Tying one end of the shoe lace around my Sharpie pen, I drew a circle, using the shoe lace as a compass around the area of the fight had taken place, and another around the house.
"You won't come near the house, too over protected," I murmured. I felt like an Agent from NCIS or CSI. "You won't come near the clearing..."
I stared at the spot where both circles meet. It was about five miles away. Ten minutes walk from cross point one to two. Somewhere where none of us have checked yet.
I had nothing else to lose, have I?
I smirked, folding the map and shoving it in my bra. "I hope you're okay, Lexi."
***
I stood at one of the exact points where the circles met. Nothing was here.
Nothing.
"Well, well, well," A manly voice spoke, making me growl out and face the source of the voice. He was tall, jeans hung low and his hair spiked up. "This is little wolfy Mae, correct?" I only glared at him, stepping around him in a circle, as if a fight were going to break out.
And I think it might.
"Who are you?" I declared, "you are trespassing on land." Since Lexi was gone, I had to have her place and help Ryder around with the things Lexi would do. How could she handle doing such hard things?
"I know," He examined his nails, before his eyes flickering back up to me. "but, I know what you want the most." He grinned.
Why was he on our land?
