Phoenix
I woke up and looked at Tatiana and Charlie. They were sleeping soundly in the bed. I stood up and got changed into my outfit for the day.
It was a black halter neck crop top, a red, white and black tartan short skirt, some knee high black socks, my glasses and some chunky black ankle boots. Last night I was contemplating even going near Colby today. I didn't want to fall out with him. He's such a nice guy and I have really been seeing the human side of him. I decided I would. I walked out of the room and locked the door. Kyle slept on the sofa last night. He was preparing Charlie and Tatiana's new rooms this morning with the help of the other vampires. I walked down the hall to Colby's chambers. I knocked lightly on the door and a few moments later he opened the door. His eyes were puffy and red.
"Colby have you been crying?" I asked sighing.
"I messed it all up Nix" he said sitting on his bed.
"What do you mean?" I asked walking over to him.
"I lied and I lied and I hate myself for it. I only did it to protect you. I know Shea. She won't stop until you're dead and I don't want that for you. So to get to you, she's hurting everyone you love" he said crying.
"I get that Colby" I said sitting down next to him.
"You're leaving aren't you?" He asked crying.
"What? Colby no of course not. If I went, I couldn't promise myself that I'd keep Tati and Charlie safe. But here. I can" I said holding his face.
"I don't deserve you" he said breaking down.
He pulled into me and I shushed him.
"It's all gonna be fine Colby. The kids just need to know they can trust you. That's why I want you to come and talk to them" I said standing up.
"They're terrified of me. Especially Tati" he said looking at me.
"Follow me" I said holding out my hand.
He took it and we walked to the room. I opened the door and started waking them both up.
"Tati... Charlie... Come on wake up" I said.
They both sat up. Tati laid eyes and Colby and moved further to the back of the bed.
"What is he doing here?" Tati asked worriedly.
"Tati... He needs to tell you something. Please listen" I pleaded smiling.
"Fine" she said giving in.
Colby sat down on the bed.
"The reason you're staying here is so I can protect you both. I know you both think I'm a mean man but I have a heart. Just because it's not beating doesn't mean I don't have one. I care for you all and I will not let Shea nor anyone else harm you ok?" He said looking at them both.
"Ok" Charlie said as Colby gave him a high five.
"I don't know" Tati said uncomfortably.
"Can I have your hand?" Colby asked smiling
He held out his hand as Tati hesitantly placed hers on his. He breathed in and the breathed out.
"Open your hand" he said smiling.
She did what he said and a blue flame came out her hand.
"Now you can protect yourself" he said.
She giggled as she played with her new found strength.
