Chapter twelveI sit down next to Matthew in the waiting room.
"I downloaded this app on my phone called 'Vine'." Matthew says, "It's where you make these six second videos. I actually downloaded it a few days ago. I made a couple videos. One of them actually got a lot of likes. You should get it. I told the boys about it and they're making some videos."
"Doesn't sound like my thing." I laugh.
"You should become a YouTuber." He suggests.
"And like people would actually watch me." I tease.
Matthew and I pass by the time by listening to music on his head phones and drawing on pieces of paper. My mum and dad sit in the waiting room with us. We all talk about different things. It was pretty much just an interview about Matthew Espinosa featuring my mum and dad.
We spend the whole day there, Matthew too. He texted his mum that he would be here all day. The doctor walks in and calls out Waltz. My mum gets up and so does my dad. I walk over there too.
"Gavin's state has healed miraculously over night. We are moving him out of the ICU and taking him of off of the oxygen support. He will be coming home tomorrow. We just want to keep him an extra night to make sure that he is 100 percent stable." The doctor finishes and my parents thank him as he walks away. I go back to Matthew and tell him everything.
"That's great news." Matthew says. "Do you want to come down to the cafeteria to get some breakfast?" He asks me. I nod my head yes and we head down the elevator.
We reach the cafeteria and I grab pancakes and eggs. He gets an omelet with bacon. We sit down at a table in the corner and begin to eat.
His phone starts to buzz in his pocket. He takes it out and opens it. His eyes move from side to side, as if he were to be reading something.
"Carter and Danny are on there way." He says. The pancakes I am eating taste terrible. I still eat them anyway, since Matthew paid for them.
He sets his phone on the table and takes a bite off his eggs. He places the fork on the side of his plate and stands up.
"This is terrible." He laughs and throws his palate away. "Are yours any good?"
"Nope." I say and throw my plate away. We walk out and pass by a small store. There are flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, and different candies and toys.
I stop walking and stare at the store. I consider buying Gavin a little something, but he hates gifts, since he cant see then.
"Happy birthday, Gavin!" I say as he is barley waking up. I am holding a cupcake with a lit candle in the frosting.
He rubs his eyes and smiles. It is Gavin's eleventh birthday today. It's his first birthday with us. My mum and dad walk in and we all song happy birthday to him. He blows out the candle and my mum brings out a birthday present.
"I got a little something for you, baby." My mum tells him. His smile disappears.
"You shouldn't have." He says.
"Well, I did. Now open it, sweetheart." She says.
"What's the point? If I can't have a real reaction to a gift, then what's the point? You have to remember that I can't see."
I walk with Matthew back to the ICU and see my mum and dad signing papers at the front office. My dad sees us and walks over to us.
"We're signing the papers to have him moved to a regular room." My dad tells us. I smile at the thought of Gavin coming home. I love him. I really do.
About an hour later, they put him on a roller bed and take him out of the ICU and place him in a room on the floor bellow the ICU.
Matthew, Carter, Danny, and I go into his room and we all talk. When visiting hours are up, I decide to stay at the hospital with my mum. Matthew goes home along with Carter and Danny.
My mum and I sleep in the waiting room. A nurse lets me use a blanket while I sleep. I wake early in the morning due to a rush of nurses and doctors rushing out a patient, luckily not Gavin, and take him to another part of the hospital.
My mum is already awake. I get yo and find her at the front desk. She is talking to the nurse while signing papers.
"Good morning, sunshine. Papers so he'll be able to leave." My mum says. I smile at the nurse and walk away. I sit back down and look at my phone. I have a new text message.
"Hey, sorry I couldn't visit the hospital. My mom wants me to go to church with her :P I'll see you later :)"
The text is from Matthew. I blocked all of the numbers that sent me all those rude messages last night. I also downloaded that Vine app. I looked Matthew up and he has 347 followers. That's a lot. I'm not going to post any videos. Someone from school might find me and make fun of me even further for it.
I have considered the YouTube thing for a little bit. I am still a little iffy on the whole idea. But, it's still an option. Maybe if I get "YouTube famous" people will stop teasing me at school.
